We obviously need one!" sentiment.
I agree with most of this, though I think ownership was a factor the first couple of years, but the surprise year kind of probably ultimately set us back in McD's first year...he had to kind of try and compete after winning 48 games, but we had no youth, so it was always probably going to have to be something he'd have to reset later.
He keeps mentioned his 3 year rebuild and I laugh because he really tried to start it 5 years ago and the team surprised, so it really started when his Knight signing backfired so big, and we were forced to, because Knight was awful and Morris was pissed because his brother got traded. The Knight move was terrible though. Hornacek, after such a promising great year as a great new coach, was doomed, mostly because the talent sucked....he has had to work for two of the worst owners and worst rosters in the league.
Then we got to tank though..but botched that first draft...the Chriss trade was terrible in hindsight...that whole draft was terrible, though had we just kept our picks it would have been better...probably.
Many of his draft picks have been awful. Most of his trades have been bad. I don't think it's all his fault, because of various circumstances, but I wouldn't exactly call him a good GM. I scratch my head when people refer to him as a genius.
You can probably change your sig by the way.
I like that we agree on this. I always thought you were a strong McD supporter, like I was early on.
The main reason I wouldn't just simply get rid of him is because we just hired a new coach, and have a revised roster, and I hate at team not having continuity..that is rarely a positive thing. And you have no idea who Sarver would hire as a replacement. I'd probably be happy if he just simply replaced him with David Griffin, who would likely be all in on the Koko hiring and has much more overall experience navigating things and probably has other connections, but outside of that, it could be scary to make another change. James Jones seems very astute, but I don't know if he is a good scout (not that McD necessarily is obviously) but not sure there if him taking over would be positive...I think it might be though...probably better player relations and stuff.
