That is how hes going to get most of his offense this year. But for a guy that was supposed to be this horrific defender (I never thought so) he sure hasnt looked bad on that end in SL and preseason.

Bagley looked good and Giles looked even better. Giles court awareness and passing is something else.

Ya Giles has always had that, that is why he got a lot of Webber comparisons pre injuries. He has a great natural feel for the game. He is really skilled as well, his handle is really good and he has a ton of different ways to score from inside 15 feet. Can turn over either shoulder, has a really good push/floater and its great to see his jumper getting a little more arc to it.

Giles has definitely extended his range out to the 3 point line.

Shot is off but he plays great help defense and already deflected 3 passes and blocked 2 shots. Passing game is on point as well.

I am at work, but if someone want to narrate the game here, I would appreciate it. I will be home in an hour, might catch the ending

Yep. Best part is, he plays under so much control. That might change a bit when defense really collapses on him but still for a 19yo to have such control is amazing. You can clearly see his talent, just needs NBA experience, different pace and game than euroleague.

His energy alone is going to get him probably 14ppg this year. The thing that would be sticking out to me the most if I was a Sac fan is, all summer Ive been hearing how horrible Bagley is on the defensive end. Well throughout SL and preseason, I think you can make the argument that he hasnt just been okay, he has actually been good defensively for a rookie. It looks like SAC is already comfortable having him guard 3-5.

Ayton for rookie of the year?

Post#513 » by dirkdiggler411 » Fri Oct 5, 2018 7:24 pm

Vegas gives 5 times your money back on Ayton for rookie of the year. Luka is about 3.5.

Watching Ayton play he just seems like the clear ROY. He is great in the pick and roll, but he also got a smooth mid-range shoot. Very impressive. Luka looks good too, but he has to share the ball with Dennis Smith and Barnes. He also struggled today getting past defenders like Simmons and Muscala.

What do you guys think?

I expect Ayton to average 20/10 and Luka to average around 17/6/5. Then it could come down to team records. We'll see, they are the two obvious favorites at this point.

DOncic is gonna be great in pick and roll. He can find the open man, hit the floater, pull up for the J, or take it all the way to the rim

I'm just so shocked at how polished and poised Donicic is in the pick and roll. Not even guys that have been running point their entire lives and come into the league as 4 year seniors look as good as he does running the pick and roll, and he's what, only 19? I was a skeptic of his because of his lack of athleticism, but if you're that good at running the pick and roll it doesn't even matter; getting picks set for you nullifies any disadvantages in quickness and speed if you know what you're doing. I thought Turkoglu would have been an apt comparison for him, but Hedo was only okay as a point forward. You would never want him being the lead guard of your team. Donicic looks like he can legitimately be your point guard.
