You guys are such snowflakes.

It is preseason, he is coming back from a nasty injury, he doesn't have explosiveness yet. That said, he is going to be able to pass, defend, rebound and move and make this team absolute fire.

Watch when his shot and his explosiveness come back. It's going to take him a month for his body to react.

The hardest part to coming back is playing against the speed and intensity of live game action; and regaining the explosiveness. The strength and conditioning are there. He just needs to be able to regain that explosive play. It takes awhile.

Do teams ever measure a player’s vertical after an injury?

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/24896793/zach-lowe-gordon-hayward-recovery-boston-celtics

On Aug. 28 at St. Bernard High School in Los Angeles, about two dozen scouts, players, and trainers watched as Gordon Hayward and Bradley Beal lined up to play one-on-one.

...

"I wasn't thinking 'I'm gonna kill this guy,'" Hayward told ESPN.com Tuesday night, after another disappointing preseason game for the Celtics. "I was thinking it would show me what I needed to work on."

Beal told Drew Hanlen, the popular skills trainer who holds court at St. Bernard and tinkered with Hayward's game over the summer, that he was confident.

They started from the post, and could only dribble twice before shooting. Then they moved to the perimeter and allowed themselves three dribbles.

Hayward swept five straight games. "He surprised the hell out of me," Beal says. Beal called Mark Bartelstein, the agent who represents both.

"I have good news and bad news," Beal said, the two recalled. "I might suck, but Gordon is 100 percent back."

Safe to say he still has game. Just knocking the rust off in 5 on 5's.

I feel like I am in bizzaro world because I actually think Hayward looks pretty great. I thought so last preseason too when some thought he was too timid. He looks like a guy who never forces the issue and makes the right play. I love that. A lot of the players on this team could learn something from that steadiness.

He looks rusty. His shots arent falling and his rhythm is off. Decision making, etc, he looked fine

It's clear some of yall have never played team basketball. A feel for the game is a real thing and it takes time to get it back after not playing even a month or two. Hayward missed the whole year, chill out

I won't lie, I have some concerns about Hayward too.

Here he is today though at practice.

Let's hope it's nothing. I still have PTSD from Larry Bird's back injury and how it robbed him of his basketball wizardry. Plus, I've been suffering from lower back spasms for the past 2 weeks myself. I can barely get out of bed some days.

Most likely, imo, it's just not playing for a whole year

Do back injuries ever really get better? Hayward getting a cortisone shot in his back concerns me.

If it's just back soreness from working out hard it's nbd. That's pretty common

If.

I'm no expert but usually cortisone shots are for underlying issues not because you worked out too hard. Hayward getting cortisone shots in his back is not a good sign.

This is what worries me the most. It's a little early for a cortisone shot. I get that he wants to come back ASAP, but we've still got 82 games plus the playoffs. I'd rather he miss the first month or so, get his back some rest, then come back when he's fully healthy. We didn't rush him back last season. Why are we rushing him back now?

Same here. If you worked out too hard then usually it is muscle pain and rest will work. I doubt any reputable doctor will give a cortisone shot for that.

If he is getting a shot in his back it is probably because of a bulging disc.
