Interesting piece by Shea Serrano on the Ringer: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/10/4/17935122/best-case-worst-case-spurs.

TL:DR: If everything breaks perfectly for the Spurs, they can be a true force. If everything breaks badly for the Spurs, they can be a real stinker. More likely, things will break normally for the Spurs, and they’ll make it to the playoffs and then lose in the second round to either the Warriors or the Rockets.

Spurs rookie Walker set for knee surgery
Spurs rookie guard Lonnie Walker IV is scheduled to undergo surgery after leaving Friday's preseason victory over Detroit with a knee injury. An MRI performed Saturday showed a torn medial meniscus in Walker's right knee, the Spurs announced. He tore meniscus in the same knee in July 2017 before the start of his lone college season at Miami.
The surgery, set for Monday, will be performed by Dr. David Schmidt. A timetable for Walker's return will be announced at a later date, the team says.

This will be Walker's second experience with a similar injury in the same knee. After tearing his meniscus in a summer workout before the start of his freshman season at Miami, Walker was recovered in time to play in the Hurricanes' season opener in November. Speaking earlier in Spurs training camp, Walker recounted his reaction to his first torn meniscus.

"I cried for 10 minutes," Walker said. "After that, I was like, 'It's a torn meniscus.' I've been through worse and I've seen worse."

EDIT to add: Official Statement from the Spurs

SPURS INJURY UPDATE – 10/6/18
Spurs guard Lonnie Walker IV underwent an MRI examination this morning in San Antonio that revealed a right medial meniscus tear. The injury occurred at the 6:55 mark of the fourth quarter of last night’s Spurs-Pistons preseason game. Walker IV will undergo surgery in San Antonio on Monday, Oct. 8. The procedure will be performed by Spurs team physician Dr. David Schmidt. A timeline for his return will be determined at a later date.

Well, I initially thought he'd stick, but with his skill set being replicated by a couple of guys in the system, it's not totally unexpected. I think we need to shore up defense with some grinders who go after guys with the ball like hounds:

He appeared in three preseason games for the Spurs, averaging 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in 6.3 minutes.

Blossomgame was drafted by San Antonio in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft (59th overall) and spent last season with the Austin Spurs in the NBA G League helping guide the team to a G League Championship.

Maybe Q-Pon sticks now? He was noticeably good on D on Harden yesterday. Gives off the impression of a hard-nosed, selfless glue guy and a great teammate.

I'm doing a season on 2K19, first Walker went down, then Murray. I'm going to stop playing now.
