The cubs seem to be flaming out. Russells suspension during the midst of playoff run seems to have affected the team.

Javy baez is a nice replacement but the cubs could have had them on the field at the same time.

Made an 8-bit Postseason video that I thought some of you might enjoy. I just wish the cubbie sections were still relevant.

Pretty cool stat, didn't realize it's only been done twice(though Seaver struck out 13 and went on to lose that game):

Alex Bregman is quickly becoming the best player in the game behind Mike Trout.

Two Teams Grab Major Advantage After Game 1

Post#67 » by jason bourne » Thu Oct 11, 2018 11:07 pm

All of the remaining teams are pretty close to each other. Astros v Red Sox is the closest at 51% v 49% according to 538 MLB predictions. Brewers v Dodgers is ~60% v 40% according to 538 MLB predictions.

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2018-mlb-predictions/

Spoiler:
I figured there is home field advantage and tried to calculate the winner of game 1 using sabermetric analysis of the pitching matchups. It means Kershaw over whomever the Brewers throw. Thus, Dodgers with 1-0 lead + hfa = winner. The same with Chris Sale over Justin Verlander in game 1. Thus, Red Sox with 1-0 lead + hfa = winner.

The LCS has been rough. All of my projections for the LCS games were wrong. Up until then, I picked all of the winning teams based on SP projections. In the LCS, managers are pulling their starters early and going with the pen. I think that favors the Brewers and Astros. It's too tough to figure out individual games based on SP and defense, so will go with the overall favorites.

Damn Soria, walking Kershaw?

Bold strategy.

My Cardinals signed Paul Goldsmit a few days ago !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a nice piece hitting between Carpenter and Ozuna. Now we have our first baseman and Carpenter can go back to 3ird. I think we make a world series run this year. The 2 year rebuild is over.

Yea, I was hoping the Astros would grab him. Good pickup.

I hope Milwaukee is talking with him and agents to get a bigger/ longer deal done with him. Nice that hes on a team friendly deal and all, but reward the man.

I heard this yesterday I think it was watching the Tampa Bay Rays postgame coverage, He said baseballs travel further if you square up a breaking ball pitch as opposed to as a fastball.
