Your core is only 22 yrs old. I don't think it's a bad idea to be lotto bound one more yr. Around 24 and 25 is when players start maturing to compete on a high level. Getting one more elite prospect is not really all that bad. Might be an insurance if Wiggins is indeed a flop.

We won't be lotto bound one year. It will likely be another 13. Wiggins is indeed a flop. I'm sick of having Lottery picks. I hope we never earn one again, but we will likely be having them for another 13 years. That is if Butler is indeed traded.
When the Wolves traded for Butler my thought was wow they sure jumped the gun make the playoffs. The age gap between Butler to KAT & WIGS is pretty dam big. Spending so much of your cap on Wiggins and KAT getting an elite talent on a rookie contract (possibly a 2nd from Heat) lightens the impact of those two max contracts a bit. Instead of having 2 core players for 60 mill, you will have 3 core players for 65 mill. And he will be much closer in age to Wiggins and KAT.

If not the lotto, you also chips for another trade. Boston gonna have to make a decision on some of their young players.

Watching for players sitting out or not playing tonight. No D. Rose (rest). And Gorgui has not played yet tonight. I would think this trade is close and Gorgui won't play.

We're most likely getting JRich and Whiteside, but maybe Thibs is pushing for Dragic in the deal and not Bam anymore? Then ships Teague to a third team and Dieng to Miami with Jimmy?

I don't get Miami Trading Dragic. Tyler Johnson sucks as a PG. Why waste getting Jimmy by trading Dragic?
Miami would with an intent to make another trade. Actually the reason they are being stingy is to retain assets to make another move. If Whiteside is part of the deal that explains why Miami been inquiring about Cauley-Stein. I don't think Miami is thinking the Butler trade will solve all their problems.

And Gorgui is playing. Maybe he is not in the deal. Then it would have to be Butler for Richardson plus a couple of salary fillers.

If you think that 14 years is jumping the gun that is your privilege I guess. Butler was only 27 when we traded for him and should be pretty good until he's 35. I don't get this idea of wanting all your players the same age. I think it's much better to have a good mix of youth and vets.

Age gap difference aside, its pretty evident that Jimmy is the least grown up of the core

They already have a good PG. Why create a hole to make another trade. The Wolves did it with Rubio and I don't think that worked out well.

I would very much disagree with that. I think Towns and Wiggins are ridiculously immature.

Because they play video games? agreed.

when it comes to being a good locker room presence, itd be hard to argue that. Wiggins hardly says anything and im sure KAT just does his own thing.

I worked in video game industry for 13 years. I don't consider playing video games immature. Just their lackadaisical attitude to their profession.

Thats what I meant about video games...we're in a playoff hunt and KAT is playing duty on twitch.

I think Jimmy is the best player on the team, but his ego and now that hes in the team USA "country club" with other superstars in the NBA...i think that hinders him from being a better locker room guy, AKA orchestrating a trade a week before camp to go to a non contender just to join up with his USA buddies.

I also dont know if jimmy tried breaking through with players like Wiggins and its impossible, which I can totally see. Doesnt mean you abandon your team mates by being a b*tch

Dunn had star potential? And people can say what they want about LaVine's potential and upside, but he was still coming off of ACL surgery and would miss the first half of the season. There's also the fact of Butler having one less season on his contract than when Chicago traded him.

He specifically said Lauri and Lavine, but I have no problem claiming Dunn has more star potential than Richardson.

You should of seen what we witness every game of the older players losing it because of Beasley and Charlmers being so dam young and not getting it. It is not an easy situation. Now image those two getting 30 mill per, wow.

Good Points. Late night video games should be an absolute no no. Butler certainly could be a better leader.

Playing video games doesn't mean anything.

Tim Duncan was on a podcast not too long ago and said he was a World of Warcraft addict and would stay up until 3-4am playing the game...he's also considered the best PF of all time.

Ben Simmons is a big gamer and won ROY

Hell, KAT is a big gamer and he was an all-star and All-NBA, so I don't get the video game talk.

Video games are fine, it's time management that's the issue. KAT puts in plently of work; you don't shoot 50/40/85 as a Center on god given talent..His defense is just booty cheeks. I really think he should move to PF and have a C next to him, he's the Dominican Dirk

Totally agree.

People with actual 40 hour a week jobs find plenty of time to play video games, but the guy who practices/plays 15 hours a week during a 7 month work year and is in hotel rooms all the time shouldnt have the time?

Video games is a non issue, its embarrassing people have even had to address it.

Lol, it's not about playing video games in general. He could be playing video games at times when he should be in the gym or watching film. We had an issue at work because we had employees playing Clash of Clan during working hours. You would hear someone say "Yo Rick send me 5 Hogs and 2 Dragons". Or "Yo mfer you got 5 mins to attack" while they on the phone with a customer. The older employees and supervisor didn't know what the hell they were doing. Lol

We actually had a dolphin player who got cut because he was addicted to madden.

Video games are fine, but neglecting basic health like getting good sleep isn't. Just because some players get away with it doesn't mean it's what should be done.

Gorgui having a good game tonight based on the box score. Wonder if the Heat are scouting him.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
