Re: Butler has requested a trade (Part II)
If the Wolves let Jimmy walk, the Wolves can get 12 mill in cap space for free agency to work with summer 2019. Is that really enough to get more than you would get in a trade from the Heat? Also hurting the draft pick status

So says you. Dragic is no great asset. Richardson is a semi-value contract role player. Winslow is a small expiring and Bam is likely a backup big.dean456 wrote:SO_MONEY wrote:My best guess in all this is the framework of the players is generally agreed on "if" a deal is to ever happen. I think that is Dragic, Richardson and Winslow. I think there are two holdups.
1. Minnesota may also want Bam. Which would still add up capwise in a Butler/Dieng trade.
2. Minnesota wants a FRP. Miami wants to use the FRP to unload Gorgi or someone else. Miami doesn't want to give MN a pick and use a second to unload Gorgi. Miami likely views their picks or any use of them as the only way shed salary to bring in players around Butler.
Both teams cannot get what they want. Either MN needs to drop the need for a pick and/or Bam or MIA needs to drop the need to use a pick to shed Dieng or someone in the future. I think these are critical issues that may be difficult to overcome. It would be hard and make little sense to budge for either team.

Minny getting Dragic, JRich, Winslow and Bam is unrealistic, Miami isn't going to sacrifice their young core and only point guard for Butler and Dieng's awful contract. That's 4 great value assets for one player who doesn't want to be on your team anymore and 15mil less cap for us to spend for the next 3 years. I'd rather wait till he leaves.

I agree. I don't think that is true. The only way Dragic is included is if he or Teague is moving in another deal. I find it hard to believe that Miami is prepared to go with Johnson at PG.

So who would the Wolves target this coming summer to fill out their roster with 12 mill and that is not including the salary of the draft pick?KGdaBom wrote:twix2500 wrote:If the Wolves let Jimmy walk, the Wolves can get 12 mill in cap space for free agency to work with summer 2019. Give it up brother. KGdaBom has Thibodeau illusions that they will get an all star for Butler or Butler will come back and everyone will go on picnics together.

Re: Butler has requested a trade (Part II)
More rumors from a mn poster...
More rumors. Unsure of the validity:
1: The Phoenix owner REALLY wants Butler. May be a large reason in the firing of the GM. There is not a lot to like on their roster. Would they give up Bridges? How about Jackson, Chandler, Melton and a 1st round pick?
2: If Jimmy isn't traded, he might get that pesky wrist "cleaned up".

No. He has expectations, fair value. Good luck getting ANYONE with the cash hell Miami is in. Is Richardson really enough to keep you from becoming a player in FA next year?

Re: Butler has requested a trade (Part II)
Why do you act like Minny in a better financial situation. Miami is at 129 mill in cap and the Wolves what 124 mill. The Heat will have a full roster at 119 next summer. The Wolves will have 7 players at 98 mill and less than 12 mill to improve with. Miami will have tons of money the following summer.mplsfonz23 wrote:ifrosty13 wrote:twix2500 wrote:So who would the Wolves target this coming summer to fill out their roster with 12 mill and that is not including the salary of the draft pick?

Not sure where those numbers are from, 158 this year and 122 next year, so yeah in two years you can start shopping.
We are at 119 and 113 for two years. But we have our stars locked down better or worse. We have never been a FA destination so it is to be expected. You need star power to attract other fa's and Butler is the best option you have right now to make it a preferred destination again. Unless Richardson blossoms into a Butler level player in two years, I just find it would be hard for your team to become relevant again. Considering the beach and other thing to do there, here we are stuck inside during those months so we have little choices for entertainment.

Oh gawd. They are adding Chris Bosh salary. His salary does not count on the cap. The Heat are at 129 mill. The Wolves will be at 98 when Jimmy walks.mplsfonz23 wrote:twix2500 wrote:Why do you act like Minny in a better financial situation. Miami is at 129 mill in cap and the Wolves what 124 mill. Better to go back to the lottery game again than accepting that trash coming from Miami.
And when i say trash i'm talking about any package that incluides Waiters or Winslow without Dieng going too.

I don't want to sift back thru, but I keep seeing Houston as a trading partner. What could they offer us? I don't see much to like on that team.

Eric Gordon would have to be the biggest piece in the package. Minny can do better elsewhere.

It's going to look much like tanking whether they are or not if Butler is still on roster but not playing for the year. Lottery days are here again.
