I had Ayton's comparison as Robert Parish, but if he keeps this up throughout the regular season he might not be too far off from prime Parish. And the kid can't even legally drink yet.

"only" 18/7 for Deandre last night on 7/11 from the floor.. saw a little bit of everything though, probably his best game in terms of showcasing his versatility.

Not even guys that have been running point their entire lives and come into the league as 4 year seniors look as good as he does running the pick and roll, and he's what, only 19? I was a skeptic of his because of his lack of athleticism, but if you're that good at running the pick and roll it doesn't even matter; getting picks set for you nullifies any disadvantages in quickness and speed if you know what you're doing. I thought Turkoglu would have been an apt comparison for him, but Hedo was only okay as a point forward. You would never want him being the lead guard of your team. Donicic looks like he can legitimately be your point guard.

He's an amazing playmaker. That's where the excitement lies. He might peak out early due to athleticism but he's gonna be a guy you can build an offense around.

He really is. Even if he doesn't become a star, he'll have a long career because he's so mature.

I really wanted NY to trade for another pick to get either SGA or Sexton. Frank compliments both really well in the Backcourt.

He was before my time, but going by YouTube vids, Parish looked slow & sluggish.
More like a bigger/glorified Kendrick Perkins.Ayton's way more athletic and can
actually hit mid range J's, even 3's.I see a David Robinson/Patrick Ewing mix.

Eh, this is why you can't judge players based off of YouTube videos. Parish was a great athlete. Not freakish like Robinson or Hakeem, but by all other standards he was a great athlete for a center, fluid too, similar to prime Pau Gasol. Parish was extremely skilled in the post, but played next to two of the most skilled post players of all time, so he took a backseat to them. Whenever he did get the ball though he was an easy two points.

Reason why I see Parish is because Parish was more finesse. So far that's what I see from Ayton too; he doesn't force his offense. Instead he finds ways to maneuver around his opponents. He finds weaknesses in their positioning and stance and exploits it with his exceptional footwork, just like Parish.

I just hope Doc doesn't mess with him and he has a stable environment to grow. He's a Player you just like, regardless of Team affiliation.

I agree with Ayton having the same type of finesse & being meticulous in his approach, but he's already more
dynamic as an overall athlete. It's sorta like comparing Mark Jackson to Jason Kidd.Thye both had similar attributes
but Kidd had more pop to his game.He was stronger & faster. Not trying to knock your opinion or anything.

Ayton is a better athlete, but there isn't this universe separating their athleticism. Saying he's a glorified Perkins is laughably wrong.

Looks like Edmund Sumner's had a really good preseason. Between he, Anigbogu, A.Johnson, TJ Leaf and Holiday, they've got a bunch of young guys that can develop in to solid 2nd unit talent. Nothing spectacular between all of them but I think they can all be pretty solid.

I thought Luka Doncic was going to be the early favorite to win ROY and he was, but Ayton seems to have taken his place. Basing this on all the pub that Ayton's getting and this thread. The players saying they are better than Ayton sounds like sarcasm, but they must be hearing and reading all the pub and realizing he is very, very good.

I don't watch college basketball anymore, so this is my first time actually watching a game of Trae Young. I wasn't sure what to make of him when people said that the best part of his game is playmaking, I thought it was just deflecting for his mediocre shooting, but after seeing the game tonight, they're right after all. His playmaking is seriously good.

I know it's only pre-season, but tonight was Trae's "Welcome to the f'ing league" moment. The legend will only grow from here.
