Morey isn't that stupid.

It isn't just Tucker... HOU is already too thin to trade two key rotation players for one. Clearly HOU would trade either of those players plus filler to get it done.

If this is the best, I wait it out.
PJ is too old to plan our future with, and Gordon hasn't played a full season ever. Better now but still a risk.

Why would any Wolves fans in the right mind want any vets to complement KAT and Wiggins when the team should go young? This goes to show Scott Layden is nutso.

I know casual fans overlook players like him but come on. There's a reason contenders value guys like that.

Yeah, Tucker is one of those players where you have to actually watch the games (not just the highlights) to fully appreciate.
I wouldn't expect casual fans to understand his value to the Rockets.

Something doesn't sound right with this trade. The Rockets would do this in a heartbeat even if they knew JB could be a rental. Maybe it's to scare the Heat into giving up James Johnson in their deal.

Gordon and Tucker for Butler is a fair deal for both sides. Butler is a huge upgrade on Gordon.

I'm guessing the people bashing this deal are GS fans who would need to be a little more afraid, (but still only a little more), or Houston fans who would love to have Butler, but are only trying to give up Gordon to get him.

Bad deal for both teams.

Thibs is keeping his butler for himself.

Rockets should do this, then immediately call jamal crawford or nick young for guard depth, its a drop off from gordon but your getting a bonafide allstar that likes to defend for two solid consolation players

Cause tucker is the kind of player that might get KAT and Wiggins to play defense. but who knows looks like butler tried and failed on that front...

This!

Fans overvalue stars. You still need to put five, well rested, NBA caliber players on the floor.

Bringing Jimmy in would definitely beef up their starting 5. But their bench would take a serious hit. Gordon and Tucker averaged a combined 59 minutes last season. Assuming Butler plays around 34 minutes, that would mean an additional 25 minutes pulled from the end of the HOU bench.

Gordon + Tucker > Butler + Random Scrub

That combined with the fact that Butler has averaged 67 games per season since he became a starter. So you can count on 15 games of Random Scrub + Other Random Scrub.

And that 3rd max deal would hamstring the organization for the foreseeable future.

So don't pay him. Just bring him in, win the championship, and let him walk! Who wouldn't trade a couple of replaceable bench players for a championship?

If this is true why is this deal not completed yet?!? As good as Tucker/Gordon can be at times Jimmy Butler makes this team have another edge. This is a no brainer and I just don’t believe the validity of this report

I love PJ, honestly every fan of every team has played on must be, but Jimmy Butler is one of the top 10-12 players in the league. The Rockets are already all in with the moves for rest of the roster and this puts them that much closer

Don't forget Ariza who will get bought out and be back for the playoffs.

That would be a rental only for HOU because Butler is looking for max next summer, something HOU can't offer.

This would put them further from their goal... even for this year.

Besides, Butler needs the ball and he'd be the 3rd best creator on the team.... so he wouldn't have the ball.

Yup. NBA rules won't allow Ariza to return to Houston for one year.
