This is terrific news. Jimmy is back with his teammates and motivating them to grow and follow his example. I knew he loved the Wolves all along and would never leave us.

I don't understand the reason for this.
Anyone?
I agree that it’s risky, for injury and for personality conflicts. However, it appears to be worth the risk for all involved, if Thibs says,
“Listen Jimmy. I’m trying to trade you, but you’ve tanked your trade value this summer with rumors of unprofessionalism, and the lingering hand injury. If you want off the team, the only place you’re going to raise your trade value is on the court.”
Are we going to gain time or lose time with this move? What if other teams will wait too? What if Butler wants to sign a 5yrs deal with us, but does not want to play for us? Once you give him that contract there is no leverage at him.
I'm glad you raised this issue because I've given it a lot of thought. I always wondered why teams with cap-space were so willing to do sign and trade deals. But when you think about it, every player wants to be valued, and money is the best way to demonstrate you value them. Having Jimmy's Bird Rights makes a trade with every team a possibility in the offseason. From Jimmy's perspective, what better way to demonstrate you value a player than by moving assets to place him in the best position possible financially.
Here's the other piece. An article was posted a while ago showing the cap-space of teams for the upcoming offseason and we found out it's very limited. It's even more limited, when you have to surround your team with additional talent and sign your own players who may be free agents. Trading for Jimmy may cost you assets, but in some cases it also positions you by being able to unload contracts and create cap-space. The real good GM's and VP's know that the value of an NBA Allstar goes beyond just the dollars, but also his ability to draw other players. Perfect example would be cases like Wade, Cousins, Rose, Deng, Anthony, Tolliver, etc, etc. Players who have already make their money in the league, and now find themselves in a unique situation due to age or injury, but who can still have offer something to a team at a minimal price.

I thought the same thing. At least you will see if Wiggins has any fight in him. If I was Thibs I would run some one-on-one drills and have Wiggins and Butler face each other. You know Butler will be intense, see if Wiggins can match.

There is a difference between calling someone trash and motivating them.

WOW that kind of makes me laugh. Kind of makes me cry.
After WOJ tweeted it, the guys on The Jump said Jimmy did this and dominated practice because he was so upset they didn't pay him this summer (but they did to Towns). He showed coaches & players they need him because he's they're best player and he deservingly so needs to be paid.
I'm totally OK with Maxing him next year with Bird Rights. There was no way we could do it this year. Wiggins getting maxed has to piss Jimmy off Royally.

You just can't make up the crap that happens to this franchise but Jimmy is right, this team isn't winning without him or a vet like him. KAT and Wiggins are softer than triple ply Charmin, maybe this will be what needs to happen for one of them to step up.

Jimmy just wants to get paid and feel loved. He would be a great teammate—the very best—if you would just give him his $200 million.

That's what The Jump said..that's what David Aldridge said..Jimmy wanted more of a max this year. Wolves would of had to create more cap via trade but they didn't do that. It was always about the money, lesser of a degree to Towns/Wiggins.

So what happens if they don't step up? They will shut down.

Was it $120 Million? I thought it was $100 million. There was a way to give him more if I understand correctly, but it wasn't really feasible.

Not a big deal, I'm sure he had a lot of emotion built up, but he needs to squash that going forward. As long as it wasn't taken personal by his teammates. Every dog get's his day!

Lmao I love all you kumbaya and patty cake fans... Kat and Wiggins are softer than melted butter
Wiggins just wants to sit in a onesie and play with Cassie and PlayStation
Kat wants to film reality tv shows, average 30, play no defense and deflect any responsibility for winning.
Jimmy being back is exactly what this ORGANIZATION AND FAN BASE NEEDS. Some pure unadulterated, unapologetic kick ass. Same exact thing kevin garnet would have done to a bunch of soft chump young bucks.
I hope thibs played bad to the bone as jimmy laced up his shoes and proceeded to kick everyone’s ass.

Pieces have been altered. Things are REAL fluid.
I understand everyone’s frustration.
Butler will not be a Timberwolf tomorrow.
Why would Clippers want him on their young team is beyond my reason. That's asking for a repeat of this whole situation. Third time luck.

Taylor is a billionaire. He should just suck it up, and go over luxury tax next year. It's not like Taylor can't live a luxurious life anymore because of it. Keep Jimmy happy.
