And this is what I was waiting for. I wanted to wait for the blow out game and see how we react. :)

I'm back for another season. Will be here more frequently. First my assessment of this game. Calm down. It wasn't that bad.

- The Nets hanged wit a top 2 team in the East up to half time. There was plenty of good and bad.
- The 4th quarter throw it away. That was working wit rotation combinations to prepare for the season.

The damn good

- Russell, Jay, Joe and Caris came to ball this season

Let's go wit Russell

- Russell was playing lock down D on one of the best guards in the game, he picked him up fullcourt and killed his transition game
- Russell is not having issues running the offense, his shot selection this year is good, the ball isn't sticking and he's rebounding
- Did yall see that alley to Faried? a backdoor screen he hit him in stride, I also love the early chemistry wit Jay and Russell and Caris
- The added muscle Russell put on is helping him finish in the paint, I see a better year for him via the new NBA rules

Let's talk Afro now :)

- Yall see this kid stutter dribble and take it into Ibaka's chest :o He was not doing that in 2017
- You hit this kid off a screen it's a ferocious dunk
- man to man face up off the shirt move Jay is blocking you
- his screens, he's adjusting on the fly, in 2017 he's setting a flare screen and Russell is trapped down low, last night he adjusted, set the flare, move down and pinned down Russell's defender to open him up for his 15-18 footer

Let's talk Caris

- the added muscle in this kid has him finishing stronger in the paint
- the fact he's shooting 3's off the dribble is great, last year he struggled there

Let's talk Joey

- the man has learned to playmake, in one sequence he pumped faked 2 defenders closing out on him and shoveled it to Afro for an easy poster

- still finishing in the paint, another plus and his 3 pt. shot should be a career high this season, I like his spacing and early on Russell and him are meshing well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's the good, here's some of the quick notes in the bad.

- Jay and Caris at times sleep on in bound plays and drive and kick plays, the majority of the turnovers happened on that

- Russell when the team is going cold has to read personel out on the court. I'm specifically speaking about when it was a 7 or 9 point game and he thought he could go James Harden on Danny Green :)

- Our Euros need to adjust to not shuffling their feet as the ball comes, they call that here in the states

- Grahm, I like dat D, gotta finish doh

- Dinwiddie need to calm down. It'll come, compose yaself.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A lot of the issues was the momentum of this game off turnovers and lack of recognizing when to block out. A lot of that was mainly players trying to avoid the new foul calls of impending momentum. Both teams struggled on dat, we caught the worst of it cuz on dat other side you have 2 lock down defenders in Kawhi and Danny. We'll be better prepared next time

So all in all, First Half was the real Nets. Third and Fourth quarter was a Nets team getting frustrated wit new fouls and lockdown defenders, then we got 3'd to death.

That wouldn’t be cool in a regular season game no doubt, but two kids fighting for Toronto’s last two way spot, and the one taking the 3 happens to be from Montreal, that’s totally fine. Those guys are there to prove themselves and get a very limited opportunity to do so. Getting mad at them for playing to the whistle in preseason is embarrassing.

If two kids on the fringe being unprofessional at the end of a game is considered an act of "proving themselves", that speaks a lot about the working culture or lack thereof that the head coach is establishing for his ball club.

I don't care either way, as I've said if we didn't want that to happen we should have played better in the 2nd half. But its pretty much standard for teams in the NBA to dribble out the clock in those situations.

I'm not a fan of unwritten rules, but I would hope my team uses this as motivation for the next time that we see you guys instead of complaining about it. But don't act like this is the first time you've seen a situation where some jackass starts showing out at the end of a decided game and it causes a problem.

The games don’t count, it’s a 48 minute practice run so dribbling it out is just silly. Coaches don’t throw guys in just to prevent injuries at the end like regular season, they throw them in to get some run in an nba game and showcase what they’ve got.

That was a child hood dream come true for Boucher, and gave the fans something to get excited for at the end of the game because he had a couple hundred people there just to see him play. Things like that are just bigger than the game itself, and especially more than a coaches ego in closing moments of a game where the score is irrelevant.

In the regular season I totally agree it’s disrespectful, but they’re playing a game in a city that doesn’t have an nba team and only gets to see a game every couple of years. Context matters.

Professionalism matters just as much as context. I suppose when he's in the G league next week it will all have been worth it.

Welcome back bud.

People are sleeping hard on Jarrett Allen right now. I saw two moves last night where he put the ball on the floor in traffic and worked in for the score. This kid is going to be a demon once it all comes together physically along with the three point shooting and getting position for rebounds.

and I agree...that game was nothing to be alarmed about. I would be stunned if we see a game from this team again where you have guys turning over the ball 3-6 times each. no way.

And Joe Harris...the dude is an elite shooter and finisher. the fact that the Nets have him here on such a cheap deal is robbery.

It's obvious Russ, Levert and Allen have improved as players compared to last year.

The number one difference is they all look stronger and in better shape than at any point in their careers.

For example, Dlo was able to keep up with a guard like Lowry or Van Vleet and actually play good defense. Caris looks quicker/sharper/stronger while Fro has definitely added some pounds of muscle. These 3 guys are our big 3.

Obviously these guys are very young and there will be rough nights and growing pains but it's part of the process.

Moving on...

- Dinwiddie looks like the same player to me, haven't noticed improvements. Still preseason but we'll see.

-Graham is not an NBA player, sorry.

- Dudley is a solid vet and can give us a boost, until RHJ is back I expect him to play a lot of minutes. He's earning it.

- Faried is our 3rd string center behind Fro and big Ed.

- I can see why Marks picked Musa and Rodi. Both highly skilled, play with the fire and are fierce competitors.
They definitely need time to adjust to NBA rules, between those two they had like 10 TOs last night because of shuffling the feet.

- Joey Buckets continues to Impress. He is in mid-season form already. Would not shock me to see him start until Crabbe returns.

- DMC has looked his age during preseason but slow starts are somewhat expected of older players.

- Napier and RHJ are two guys that more than likely will be part of the main rotation eventually.
I think Napier could take Dinwiddie's spot or maybe even play together while RHJ is the obvious starting PF on the roster.

- Crabbe pre-injury looked the same as last season but who knows at this point. Thankfully his injury seems minor.
We need him because he is a very solid 3 and D guy for our system.

- Pinson, Omot, and the rest should be in our G-League. Not enough room for those guys on main roster this season.
In previous years those guys would get solid burn with the main club but this season competition is fierce to be part
of the rotation.

Overall I can see improvements already but if we want playoffs there are things that must be fixed like turnovers, defense and rebounding.
