Report: Pat Riley Hung Up On Tom Thibodeau When Wolves Asked For More Assets

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Oct 12, 2018 1:42 am

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat had basically agreed to a trade of Jimmy Butler for Josh Richardson, Dion Waiters and a protected first round pick.

The deal progressed to point of the two teams exchanging medical information, but Tom Thibodeau called the Heat back and asked for additional assets.

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Domejandro your boy screwed up royal. You aren't getting better than Richardson, Waiters and a pick.

I’m not buying this report unless Heat were taking back Diang too.

Butler is a rental so Wolves won’t get the world for him, but they don’t need to take back a contract like Waiters.

Waiters? He's useless, hurt and has a wretched contract.

what is the difference between mother-sucker and mother-bleeper?

I don't think that heat value is equal to Butler.

Waiters is overpaid.

The deal is not even equal to overpaid contract of Otto Porter Jr.

Three years of a washed up Waiters on a very bad contract was the screw up. No way do I believe that the Wolves would have ever agreed to three years of Waiters.

Riley is who he is. Waiters is a bad contract, so he needs to add Bam Adebayo in addition to the protected pick in order to make it work.

I think best deal for Wolves is to make him a Clipper. Get a player and a 1st and it’s possible that 1st is a lottery pick out West.

As far as we know it’s HOU, MIA and LAC bidding for him.

I’m not sure what other team pays up for a rental

Butler is not a rental at all. He is going to stay with the new team (like Paul George).

One reporter have proposed a deal to send Joakim Noah in the package for Butler.

Butler is absolutely a rental. The only teams that are going to trade anything of value for him, are the teams that he will re sign with.

He is definitely opting out after this season

Timing could not possibly be worse for Wolves.

Everyone is saving their assets until AD and KD make up their minds, and I suspect most teams would rather make a run at Klay Thompson than Jimmy

If I were Wolves, I'd have only 1 requirement:

any deal needs to Improve Wolves the next 5 years

Heat 's offer clearly make Wolves worse.

Wolves need 2 future first picks to dump Waiters to Kings

Wolves need 2 future first picks to dump Dieng to another team

He should just keep Jimmy and shop Towns and Wiggins. Those goofs don't want to win anyway.
