Any article that leaves out Giles is clueless. I’ve seen enough games to know the kid is going to be good.

From what we saw in preseason, it may be very true. ATL and PHX run their offense quite heavily through both of them while Luka in the Mavs system basically has to fight for the ball. If anyone it was Wes who got a lot of attention on the offense, which makes zero sense. So from just that perspective those two have an edge to compete for ROY.

I love this draft class. It probably won't have any Jordans or LeBrons but it it will be historically great

Donicic looked great in preseason so far, people just thought Atlanta made a mistake. I think both teams are fortunate to have drafted extremely talented rookies on their team, and only time will tell who was right.

It's not like there hasn't been reason for pause, he is a undersized guard who struggled to finish at the rim, and then his shooting has been terrible through out summer league and the pre-season. He had a very high usage and was averaging 5 TO's a game.

That said, I have been very impressed with his playmaking. I knew he would be good, but I thought he would be more turnover prone against NBA competition.

This might be one of those rare occasions in the young/doncic trade that both teams get exactly what they needed going forward and both players ball out. It seems Doncic is going to be a PF for the Mavs and in the nba which the Hawks already have a good one in John Collins. Where as the hawks needed a top level facilitator for Collins and Prince to really shine with their strengths. Young seems to be well on his way to being a elite level passer and floor general that can still shoot from anywhere on the court at any given time.

The trade was knocked by people alot from both sides at times but both teams might have the last laugh if it keeps going how it is now and only getting better. The only way the hawks might get the 1 up on this trade is if the mavs end up giving te 5 to 10 pick next year and the hawks get another top level player as well to team with young.

He’s most likely going to be on the bench in a health precaution minutes watch probably. Not sure he will be in a position to do as much as the others

I think every team should be happy with what they have so far.

Ayton looks like a beast.
Bagley has a lot of potential
Trae Young is holding his own
Doncic is skilled for his age
Jaren Jackson Jr looks like more than a role player
Bomba looks like a promising 2 way player.
Carter Jr looks solid

I still have a hard time seeing Trae Young being an efficient point guard long term. And I still think Bagley can either be boom or bust. I think Bagley will have games where he scores like 2 points and games where he scores 20 and how he grows depends on his mental strength.

Thought Bagley would struggle this year. But I have been impressed by what I have seen. He seems to have very good game awareness and appears to learn and adjust in a short period. His jump is so quick he often catches the ball and has dunked it before players can react.

It will be interesting if Doncic plays 4 how he and Bagley match up.

i think both Ayton and Doncic are gonna go neck and neck for ROY this year. Ayton’s Looked like a beast on the court while also impressive with a decent baseline level of skill set for his position.

Doncic will be the sexy pick though.

This move right here,

I **** with this move right here. It’s not just the execution but the confidence and willingness to execute this kinda move is impressive on its own. Especially for a 19 year old.

This whole class is looking promising. I can see at least 2 potential stars with handful more with the potential to reach an all star game or two.

How has Bamba looked anyway? I havent heard much talk on him at all. I think the sooner that team moves away from Vuc, the better, I think Vuc is incredibly overrated.

I would personally love to see him doing well, I don't know why you think Doncic fans has anything against that kid. We are actually grateful for him, and the best thing would be if both turn out great. There is no competition here, and we already know that we'll likely surrender the pick, unless we get really lucky during the lottery, which could actually happen now that the rules have changed.

Can someone tell me why Doncic is seen as "unathletic"? Everytime I see him play, Doncic is getting to his spots on the floor and driving to the rim in transistion with ease. He gets plenty of separation on his step-back jumpshot too. His defense is pretty bad off-ball (he gambles too much for steals like every other rookie), but that has nothing to do with athleticism.

because people measure athleticism on "straight lines" with tests in artificial conditions. According to those tests Doncic is a worse athlete on paper than the majority of wings and guards playing in the NBA. Being functional is what matters. Doncic is like Curry in this regard.

he has trouble beating people off the dribble in half-court sets. athletic wing defenders give him trouble at times. his stepback is a great tool, but there were times at real madrid that he was forced into relying on it too much and forcing bad shots because of his inability to take someone off the dribble. his craftiness can make up for a great deal of that, and it's might be overstated at this point, but it is something to watch with him going forward.
