Re: Pre Season 2018
Hawks players so far showing positives and negatives but noone is really under performing relative to my expectations coming into Preseason. If anything, there have been a number of positive trend lines. That's a nice way to start season.
Performing beyond expectations
Trae Young
Bembry
Poythress
Alex Len
Jeremy Lin
Taurean Prince
John Collins
Performing at expectations
Bazemore - showing vet experience, I expect his play to turn up in reg season
Spellman given his rookie experience - may even be exceeding expectations a bit
Huerter given his rookie experience
Carter given his age
Tyler Dorsey - may be exceeding expectations
It is disappointing that Dedmon, Justin Anderson and Daniel Hamilton are injured. Especially with Collins also being out. This would have been a great time for them to see some PT. But overall a lot of positive signs .. even though team will not be great this year.

That was a really fun half of basketball. Miami couldn't keep pace.
Starters sitting to start 2nd half. Preseason is over for them.

Re: Pre Season 2018
It would be foolish to put too much stock in preseason but a few impressions from Hawks preseason—
They have potential to be very good passing team - not only are both of their PGs looking pretty good- the entire team seems to have above average passing IQ
Many of Schlenks summer acquisitions are looking better than I expected them to at this point - Alec Len, Poythress and JLin and Vinsanity
Trae Young looks like he is for real. He will take time to develop but his talent is impressive and undeniable
Many of Hawks holdovers from last year ate looking improved - from Collins to Prince to Bembry uo Dorsey.
The Hawks big man rotation was area of concern but with solid play of Poythress and Len, and Spellman shoeing potemtisl, in preseason this area does not seem like it will be as much of vulnerability as thought. I am assuming Dedmon will be able to be as good as last year and that Justin Anderson will be able to play some PF and make contribution too -

Re: Pre Season 2018
I don't know. The first three games weren't encouraging. It was helter-skelter disorganized pickup game basketball. Then games 4 and 5 looked like an NBA team. Bench seems weak and I'm not sure the rotations are set. Collins and Dedmon are out with Collins due back soon. Prince is looking great and Trae will have some really strong games but will be game planned so he'll go through some rookie ups and downs. Having a 35 foot 3 point shot helps him out and a pretty reliable push shot. But his passing and court sense look special. But the "real" games start next week and the intensity goes up. Len looks good, can hit the corner 3 with regularity This is a young team but with enough battle-tested veterans on it to steer the ship. Pierce seems to have a good "seat of the pants" feel to his coaching. I like when he takes his timeouts.

How did you feel when the cousin signed with your team?
Vince? I was ecstatic but he was already over the hill and was a little disappointing. Still love him

That was cool and surprising. I think last year it was just Muscala.

I bet his dad wasn't happy with that.

Too soon ... or not soon enough?

Trae Young is looking to have more than just shades of Steve Nash -- even when the shot isn't falling his vision is absolutely special. 7 assists vs. just 1 turnover and all of the assists were incredible set-ups.
That 3-point game winner was bonkers. Remember, even before that he dropped a perfect dime to Len who just missed a dunk the possession before and had a clutch floater before that.
Those accelerate towards the basket floaters/runner look very Nashian.
Would've also accepted "Nash-ty".

I want some Nashty!

It's too bad, just when he was dropping off. I was talking about his cousin/teammate in Toronto tho.

Oh, I'm 24 and from Europe so I didn't get to watch too much of T-Mac's tenure with the Magic. Still have mad respect for him
