Semi-healthy-44/50 wins 6,5,4 seed 1st 2nd round exit

Last years health-anonther miserable season but with the added bonus of another semi-crap draft pick.

I'm not optimistic about the teams health. :-?

I feel like we have this discussion every year, but I'll ask for clarification again:

In each of the last 4 seasons exactly 2 teams have exceeded 59 wins. In only one of those seasons did a team reach that mark, so 59 wins in 3 of the last four seasons would make us uncontested the third best record in the league. In the fourth season it would leave us tied. You have to go back pretty far to find a season that wouldn't put a 59 win team at least at that level.

So you think if healthy we're potentially a top 3-4 team in the entire NBA?

Yes. Zero issues saying this; 54-59 wins. That could be anywhere from 6th to 1st best record in the league. Amount of wins, doesn't necessarily make you a top 3-4 team either. I'm just saying if the team is at full health for at least 90% of the year, that is the amount of wins they will end up with. The Pistons, in the East have a major frontcourt advantage, and it could be huge for them all year. I'm taking everything I know about these players, coaches, and the way the league plays into account.

Best front court in the league, coupled with the second best three point shooter, and a PG, that for some reason makes this team go, I'm pretty confident.

I'm also taking into account how good the team was playing before Jackson went down with an injury, and the addition of Blake.

Could I be wrong, even with no health problems? Of course. Unlike last year though, when I wouldnt even make a prediction, I'm confident. IF healthy. Any injury, to either Jackson, Blake, or Drummond, and it's a big one, I'm also confident in my predictions.

Casey is terrible in the playoffs, but he knows how to get it done in the regular season. This team has a ferocious inside presence, and it sucks a lot of defense into the lane. Going to be lots of open shots.

Now I await for this post to be brought back from the dead in about....3 months.

This season, just like every season for the past 5 years, will depend on the response to the point guard getting injured.

If they panic and start Jose Calderon or do a panic trade for some washed up vet - it’s going to be another wasted season.

If they change the chemistry and playing style of the starters by moving Ish to the starting lineup, it’s going to be a bad season.

If they do something creative and strategic like start Bruce Brown or move Luke to pg, then it’s going to be a great season with or without Reggie Jackson.

Since SVG is gone, I’m confident we won’t see any panic moves, so I think it will be a goood season. However, Jose Calderon is still on the roster so you never really know what could happen.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

ONe good thing is that Casey is not as dependent on the point guard position as SVG is. SVG lived and died on the 1.

Casey seems to be more open to multiple ballhandlers and creative ideas. So RJ being injured will not be as big of a handicap for Casey.

Don’t put too much hope in Casey. This is still a Van Gundy built roster. Casey is not a miracle worker. This is gonna be a long mediocre season and I just can’t look forward to greg Kelser, George blaha and the rest of the fsn crew spinning it into something other than what it is. Pistons basketball under tom Gores will continue to be a cringeworthy, unwatchable product.

100% healthy - They'll fight for the 7th or 8th seed.

Not looking forward to seeing our wing players get torched every night. Regardless, the answer is hell yes.

The offseason has been an emotional roller coaster for me. I've gone from Chicken Little the sky is falling to unrealistically optimistic to guardedly hanging on to realistic with a hint of positivity. I am looking forward to seeing what the first 7 games of the season says about us.

Definitely ready for the Pistons basketball. I got a good feeling...well slightly. lol
