You know, the more I think of it I hope this means we are dumping Daniels.

Daniels has SOME value, surely?

Dude is a legit 3pt shooter who plays hard and would be fine off the bench for a team with an inside presence.

He'd be perfect as a backup guard on the Pelicans or Jazz I think - but they won't make a trade cos they don't have to. Plus the Pels just added Wes Johnson who fits nicely there too.

I'd cut Reed, Arthur and Canaan. With Crawford on board there's no need for Canaan, he's essentially a shoot-first PG who doesn't play D, so what's the point?

Our guards not being able to hit shots really hurts us, which is why Shaq's no longer on the roster. He was the worst shooter of the bunch.

Suns really love to pay those old players that should retire already.

I come in peace and do not mean to troll, but to be brutally honest with you guys, just hope that Kokoškov cements him well under fifteen minutes a game. He will dazzle you with a victory on his back, but once you step back, you will realize his impact (if he is played) will cost you substantially more wins than he contributes to.

Cool dude in the locker room though, which is positive.

I get that Harrison can't shoot, but you can play him next to Booker, Ariza, Anderson and Ayton - because he can defend.

Crawford for all the talk of his shooting ability etc, has shot 40.6% from the field over the past 4 seasons, and only 34% from the 3 in that same time (better than I thought it'd be). But he is HORRIFIC defensively...which correct me if I'm wrong, is what we need.

Hate the move. Would much rather have kept Harrison, signed a younger PG like Whitehead or Larkin, or go the superior veteran route - Nelson or Chalmers.

"He's an unbelievable person," Suns veteran forward Trevor Ariza said. "Definitely somebody that can help us improve. Help the guards that we have learn how to play the game at the NBA level. Since he's here on our team now, I'm excited to have him."

This will be Crawford's eighth team as he's played for Chicago, New York, Golden State, Atlanta, Portland, Los Angeles Clippers and most recently Minnesota.

"The time for him to adjust and to adapt to the new system is going to be very quick," Kokoskov continued. "We're happy to have him. We have a young squad and you can never have enough good players, never enough good offensive players. We're going to find a way to work it out and incorporate him with our current roster."

In the wake of that, Phoenix waived second-year point guard Shaquille Harrison.

Harrison started three of Phoenix's five preseason games, was considered the team's best defender at the point, but the Suns are gaining experience and scoring punch with Crawford, 38, a three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner who has averaged 15 points for his career.

"He can score the basketball," Ariza said. "You can never have enough scoring. He can make plays as well. He's a smart, smart guard. He's been playing for a long time. All the experience that he has can definitely help us."

Couple of things about Crawford

1) Have to ask who is going to add more wins Crawford or Shaq, Reed, Arthur. If we are trying to produce wins to attract free agents next year we have to think about it from this perspective. Were Shaq and Reed long term pieces ??

2) At the trade deadline which players are likely going to be needed by a playoff team ... Ariza / Chandler / Crawford or Shaq / Reed. Can we get real assets from these veterans at a later time?

Crawford won't add wins, but those other guys were not likely to either. I would have waited a bit and picked up Frazier. Crawford cost Minnesota more games last year than he helped, as one of their posters stated, and the #s reflect.

Good so if neither Shaq or Reed are likely to add wins then why keep them? Instead let Okobo, Melton, and Bridges take their minutes. Bridges can play SG and Melton/Okobo are combo guards. Crawford can be their mentor.

Edit: Shaq and Canaan really can't mentor the guard crop like Crawford.

Shaq ok, fine to let him go, though I did kind of like him. No, Reed probably doesn't add wins this year, but he is a young guy we just drafted who was injured last year. He hasn't even had a chance and was a 40% 3 pt shooter, lock down defender with long wingspan for 4 years before having a few minutes in the NBA with scrubs as a rookie.

It is amazing to me how quickly people judge players. 21 games for Reed. Why give up on upside? Cut Daniels instead.

Well the Suns FO made the decision not me and I'm sure its based on summer league, preseason, and recent practices. I'm guessing its because Bridges and Jackson and Daniels are better than Reed. For Shaq its the same situation with Okobo and Melton. Canaan has more experience and between he and Crawford they can help the young guys learn.

They don't need to be learning from Canaan and Crawford. They need to be learning from Koko. I'd simply rather keep a young guy with potential who has always been a great 3 pt shooter before limited time after an injury last year, and also an elite defender which we need.

Look I'm not disagreeing with you ... I liked Shaq and hoped Reed would show something. Both of them are older though, 25 and 23, and neither had real NBA experience that helps win now. Is Shaq that much better than Okobo or Melton? Again Reed better than Bridges or Jackson. The front office thought is was important to have a veteran presence at the guard position. Probably not for starting or even major backup minutes. But certainly to abuse the youngster in practice so they learn.

Reed likely wouldn't be better than them, but that depth is nice to have. We could make a big trade involving some of our guys. No one even wanted Crawford. TWolves were probably excited he declined his PO.. San Antonio was said to not be interested....funny later I read he was considering them...however they were not considering him despite losing Parker, Murray and White.

Sarver makes it extremely hard to be a suns fan and if i wasn't one since Connie Hawkins was here i'd have been gone long ago. This was a "The fans are stupid, and it shows we are trying to win now since we are no longer the youngest team in the league" move.
Crawford in his best wasn't a good point guard, 3 or 4 years ago he was a good sixth man and exciting, but he has always been an atrocious defender and nothing special as a play maker, but since we are dumb fans we will get excited by someone that had some nice crossovers and 3 point shots once in a great while while he guards no one and does nothing better than Daniels at this point in his career, who we already had... so t compound it, instead of dumping him we got rid of someone just last year was worth the 32nd pick which was before Bell was drafted

But yeah this will attract free agents and help us win games FA "im signing in Phoenix cuz they signed 38 year old Jamal Crawford last year and he had two nice plays on youtube." Sarver has to be one of the worst owners in sports and now it appears he has a likable puppet for a GM

It is kind of humorous (not really) that we have the 520th and 521st ranked defenders last year out of 521 players.

That's where I disagree. If his attitude and leadership acumen is as good as they say, he will add wins. You guys act as if wins are only created through play. Making other better with positive tutelage is very valuable. Also, he damn sure won't cost us more than these other bums on the roster would sooooo......
