Well, Jeff Teague posted something interesting on instagram of Towns, almost like he's trying to make a point.

Weird, I thought it did since HS Towns asked KD the question "Did anyone in your whole life playing basketball ever make you feel that you needed to work harder than them and they acted like they were better player to get you to be a better player?"

And of course, KD says "For sure, my bigger brother".

So that tells you that Durant should've said Towns but since he didn't it means Towns doesn't have what it takes? I don't get how you think he's trying to make a point about Towns.

There does seem to be a parallel between the current situation. The question was (to repeat), "Did anyone in your whole life playing basketball ever make you feel that you needed to work harder than them and they acted like they were better player to get you to be a better player?"

That question definitely feels like a parallel to the Jimmy Butler situation with Towns currently.

Taylor already has signed off on two huge contracts for forward Andrew Wiggins, (five years, $147 million beginning this season) and center Karl-Anthony Towns, (five years, $190 million starting next season). Could Taylor pay Butler the $190 million he could attract from another team?

"We would have to make some changes on our team in order to keep Jimmy," Taylor said.

Makes me even more convinced the Glen isn't even offering the $190M. This seems to be the popular opinion among the media talking heads, anyways.
I wonder is Thibs won't be shopping Wiggins if he shows any signs of life this season.

From the StarTrib....

"Thibodeau's job safe

Taylor was asked to assess how Tom Thibodeau, the Wolves coach and president of basketball operations, has handled the Butler situation.

"Well, I'm OK with it," Taylor said. "Initially, when Butler told [Thibodeau] he wanted to leave, you know Tom did everything he could to try to keep Jimmy here and I understand that. They have a close relationship.

"Thibs brought him here so that he would stay here. But eventually I think that in listening to Jimmy, Thibs and I are lined up on this. We need to be looking at a trade."

Thibodeau has three years left on a five-year contract worth about $40 million. Is he coaching for his job?

"No, no, the only thing now is that we are starting to play games and I am asking him to concentrate on coaching,"
Taylor said. "GM Scott Layden will help to see if any trades are available."

Some media outlets this week reported Butler requested a trade immediately following the Wolves' exit from the playoffs last season. Taylor said as far as he knows, that is incorrect.

"Back about three weeks ago, when [Butler's request] came out in the news, Thibodeau called me and said that he had a meeting with Butler out on the West Coast, and Butler had told him at that time he wanted to be traded," Taylor recalled. "That was the first I had heard anything about it."

While supposedly the reason Butler wants out is because he questions the work ethic of Towns and Wiggins, Taylor said all three players have told him they can collaborate on the court.

"When I ask them, they all have said they can play together in the games," he said. "I don't know why they wouldn't be telling me their true feelings."

Is Taylor still happy he hired Thibodeau in April of 2016?

"Yes, yes, he is a good coach and I have faith in him," he said.

-------------------------------------------------------

That's it! I've now lost all respect for Glen Taylor. Go back to sleep Glen. We'll wake you up when the season is over. Unbelievable!!

Team owners don't have to know basketball. That's why they hire a front office to make personnel decisions.

They do if they're going to have input on how the team is run or who stays or goes on the roster. If they're hands off other then hiring the FO, sure!

This may be an unpopular statement here, I'm not certain, but KG probably should learn to show some restraint and class when referring to the team and owner that gave him his shot in the NBA and helped him develop into who he became.

Glen bought the team in 94 and drafted higshchooler KG in 95. He started his success here. Became known here. Glen helped with that. His whole career could have went a different way elsewhere for good or bad.

He sits on a high horse now, still sounding like a poor sport about losing out on a shot at partial ownership in this team to me. He could probably take a little sting out of those statements.

Glen doesn't want to pay the lux, this whole thing seems pretty clear to me. I don't really care if an owner knows basketball, Glen doesn't know when to stay out of the way and that is the issue.

I think he blames himself for this and that is why he has given Thibs such a long leash.

Man KG needs to be an assistant coach somewhere, but it sure as hell won't be here as long as Taylor owns the team

If you've been following all the posts, tweets, and mentions by fans since the Butler thing started you might have heard and read a few demands that the owner steps in and does something. I agree however, because he's known for talking out of turn before in the past. Letting the cat out the bag. Cutting the coach and Layden off at the knees a bit on this one may not have been the best move.

Is that statement about changes on the team a notice to the league that Wiggins or Towns might be available at some point?
