I’m happy for mike smith that he found himself another job in the nba. I feel like the clippers should have told him why they got rid of him. After nearly 20 years with the organization they owed him that

In the litigious 21st century, especially when it comes to labor relations, you don't. You just don't. Honesty is not just not best policy, it's suicidal. You're too old, too white?
Because maybe the truth was, you're just too jive, and you're just too boring? You're not funny. Plus you're a hideous dresser. Dude wears plaid suits with a striped tie.*
And what if it was Ralph? Maybe Ralph said, 'I really don't want to spend my last year or two with this guy.'
I certainly agree with you that in another century, the Clippers owed Mike Smith some sort of explanation after NINETEEN YEARS. But that's not the world we presently live in.

________________
*The irony of course, is that aside from not being too white, Bruce Bowen was too boring, not funny and was also a hideous dresser with that bowtie sh*t. Plus he wasn't even a Clipper. He's a Spur.

Was rooting hard for Don MacLean. Hopefully he gets the job full time after this season. He's awesome.

I think he may not want the full time job- he has kids in school and has his basketball training business that keep him busy

True. But MacLean's so good I'd take him even if he just wants to do home games and some of the West Coast games.
My dark horse--Cheryl Miller. A female would accrue to Ballmer's progressive social capital.

she may have to quit her coaching job to be able take on Bowen's position. I like her when she is on TNT, I think she'd be great at it.
How about Cat Mobley?

Bowtie Cutting Off Oxygen to Brain
I'm so glad the Clippers cut ties with this moron. While I agreed with the decision at the time of his firing, I did acknowledge it was bad optics. Still, you have to do what's right and we're so much better off not having to listen to this idiot's drivel.
More stability with Kidd? Apparently, Bowen wasn't following the NBA when Kidd presided over the constant infighting with the Bucks and Nets. Kidd even publicly chewed out our current President of Basketball Operations, Lawrence Frank, because his sensible approach to things made JK look bad during their time together with the Nets. Kidd then proceeded to move Frank to more limited duties removed from the team. Let's also not forget that he fought with teammate Jim Jackson over Toni Braxton during their time together in Dallas.
Kidd is the definition of a cancer. The fact that the Lakers welcomed him into their organization actually benefits the Clippers. The one possibly positive thing they will get from Kidd is likely his instruction for Lonzo Ball to pattern his game after him.

Re: Who will replace Bowen?
Regardless of his bad takes, firing Bowen looks even more cringeworthy now than it did then. The Clippers fired him to pander to a free agent who almost certainly isn't signing with us after all. Decisions like that just give off an aura of desperation, even though we have a great front office and no reason to be desperate.
The big lesson here is that it's a waste of time and energy to start planning years in advance for specific free agents. You can never predict what might happen to ruin the plans you've come up with. The smart thing to do is patiently build through the draft instead of chasing the illusion of big-name free agents signing with us, but still maintain flexibility just in case.

Would be powerful AF if Kawhi came and sat down at the table with Clippers brass....
Kawhi: I want Bowen gone...
Ballmer: Done. Now sign on the dotted line.

The combination of that shot, Uncle Dennis hugging Masai afterwards, and Chris Carter totally backpedaling from his anti-Toronto narrative this morning pretty much clinches that Kawhi is staying, in my opinion. I'd love to be wrong, but it doesn't look good.

You might be right, but nobody knows.
If Milwaukee handles them or even if they win it all, he might still leave because he doesn’t want to live there

Toronto is hardly a place where "people wouldn't want to live".
It has enough luxury housing, night life, diversity, and high end things to do. I'm not sure why it gets viewed like a Cleveland or a Pittsburgh on this forum.
For cold cities, it's closer to a Chicago in terms of great things to offer. I'm of the opinion that the Raptors' brass know this but they also know they can't sell Toronto to anybody who doesn't currently live there. Thus, they traded for him to show him Toronto is a nice spot to live and play basketball. The rest of the world can mock Toronto for not being LA or NY but they know Kawhi will enjoy his time there. I base that off the idea that Ujiri was adamant that people like Toronto and that he has to change the perception that people don't want to come there.

There's somewhere around here, Eric Gordon saying it's his favorite city to travel to during the season. I can't find it but I'm 95% sure he has said that.
Toronto...cold
But not Cleveland.

Re: Who will replace Bowen?
I've actually been to Toronto myself, and it's one of the nicest cities I've ever visited. A lot of NBA fans have this weird idea in their heads that Toronto is Detroit/Cleveland-tier for some reason. I can only assume they've never been to Toronto.
It's not glamorous like LA, the winter sucks, and the taxes are high, but when it comes to pro sports cities, you could do a whole lot worse than Toronto.

It’s not about Toronto being a bad place to live- it’s that kawhi has been reported to want to return home to play

Re: Who will replace Bowen?
Doesn't everybody.
Paul George was a Laker last year and wanted to return home so bad if you let twitter tell it.
Again, I think we have a shot at Kawhi. It's just nowhere near what people make it out to be.
