I still believe that what he can eventually bring to the table would surpass what DSJr. can provide ... maybe even a "really good point guard"

If it is agreed that vuc is not part of the future, tanking or development is next seasons goal, and bamba is up for the challenge... trade augustin and and Vuc to Cleveland for George hill. I know it adds an extra year of salary... but if we didn't have plans to use it next summer... more money will be ready to come off the books in 2020. fill in the PG and SG positions for the future within that timeline. Let Clifford whip these kids into shape.

I think he has the potential to outshine DSjr, but has a great risk to not achieve those heights as well. Just saying that a young DSjr would really fit this teams future.

DSjr could very likely be an average at best PG in this league if he can’t develop a 3 point shot. How does that fit our future? We can find a guy like that fairly easily if that’s all we need.

JI already looks like an all NBA defender. This league is now about switch defense. Guys like JI don’t grow on trees.

Having a great 3 point shot isn't the be all, end all of being a Point Guard. There are just as many PG's out there who can shoot the 3 ball that are 3rd stringers barely make teams.

It’s an extremely important part of being a PG in todays NBA. Especially if you are a scoring PG with questionable defense.

At his young age, I think he will end up being respectable at both.

Hard to tell given he hasn't had any time to show what he is. The only thing he's shown is how damn good he is defensively as that was the only aspect of his game that was NBA ready.

Neither is being a PG. I get that we are in need of a quality PG, but DSJ has a very long way to go before he can be qualified as such. His eFG% and TS% were exceptionally low for a player with such high USG% and his AST%/USG% ratio was awful for a PG. I don't believe his advocates appreciate how poor he was in his rookie season.

I preferred Isaac at the time of the draft and I prefer him still.

The only thing Dennis Smith Jr. showed he could do better than Jonathan Isaac was stay healthy.

I like DSJ, but he did not have a good season at all. He played a lot, but he was a net negative in almost every respect. Shot poorly, defended poorly, used up a ton of possessions inefficiently.

Still plenty of time for him get better, but he was AWFUL as a rookie.

Isaac's season was very incomplete because of all the games he missed with his injuries, but he flashed legitimately high end defensive capabilities.

Isaac on defense last year > anything Smith did in any aspect of the game.

I for one am thrilled at how quickly he recovered physically from his ankle injury. His tone and physic was always the issue (as is his asthma, a non-reported issue so far this season).

Isaac looks strong and his legs look capable.

Oh oh oh.... don't get me wrong.... I would love dsjr on this team... even since the draft i was hoping to figure out how to get BOTH of them in that draft.... and DSJr was even in my consideration at 6..... if Isaac wasn't there. WHat isaac has shown on the deffensive end of a team that's still trying to find it's defensive ability is priceless. And all the other abilities are nearly gravy for him at this point. not gonna tag him as injury prone yet either, hoping they are all just fluke accidents. And on offense... I see no reason why he won't at the least become a 3 option talent. Mingled with the defense... he has great value.

As good as he is defensively already, it feels like Isaac's *floor* is super high end role player. I don't see any way he isn't a positive contributor as a defender, rebounder and garbage man offensively.

His ceiling all depends on how well his jumper and ball handling come around.

I wanted DSJr in the draft last year. And was against Isaac due to fit with AG.

We made the right choice
Keep Isaac
