Casey said he doesn't ever announce lineups until the league mandate.

That seems so dumb to me.

Good luck to anyone who has Pistons on their fantasy teams this season, especially when they are questionable to play on a given night.

the only reason why i wouldnt start kennard because defensively that backcourt would be one of the worst...having gr3 in the lineup would work since hes a 2-way player just slide bullock to the 2 gr3 at the 3.

it sucks for fantasy purposes but it's pretty standard in the nfl. why give your opponent more time to prepare to play you?

Yeah, the NFL is an entirely different animal however.

I also would get it in the NBA for injury purposes. But how much of an edge does it really provide by not simply announcing your starting lineup? Your stars/horses are obviously always going to be in there, but will the opposing team's game plan really change all that much if Stanley Johnson is starting as opposed to coming off the bench?

I realize that outside of fantasy, its such a small detail to even be concerned about. It just seems dumb to me.

I agree that especially for regular season games it makes a very minimal difference, but if there’s even a chance it can make a difference then why not use it?

I’m with Casey on this. If the only person it benefits is Fantasy owners and the opposition, who gives a ****

For 81 games, yeah whatever. For opening night? It's mildly annoying that he didn't announce a lineup earlier. I mean, come on...... we needed something to argue about. We were reduced to talking about the color of the seats for a couple days there.

This.

Being named as an opening night starter is kind of an award, especially for the guys who weren't locked in going into training camp.

Also considering the content of this thread, team's beat writers going out of their way to try and report starting units long before tipoff, and they make a scene to announce the starters in every arena for every game I think its safe to say that some people give a **** about the starting lineups and their announcements.
