WWE is hell bent on marketing and trademark and is making sure anything dub E related is recognized as dub E material.

The UK brand belts in particular are stunning.

This strikes me as being a load of ****. All previous accounts, including stuff produced by WWE, have stated that Vince handed NXT to Triple H and gave him authority. Of course Vince has "final say" on everything in his company, but I dont believe for a second that he dedicates any energy to the booking or presentation of NXT.
I think Cody is just trying to own the marks here.

Re: NXT Thread II
I'm not going to create a new thread for the UK brand because this one doesn't get a lot of attention.
Feel free to discuss the weekly shows here. First episode is tonight. I'm probably going to end up checking it out tomorrow night.

Yeah, it just makes no sense. You can't watch NXT and then Raw and think the same guy is behind both of them. One is a great, entertaining wrestling show where guys are allowed to become stars, the crowd is treated with a modicum of respect, and the in-ring action is always good to great (minus the squash matches, but those exist for a reason).
The other is a joyless three hour death march that might have two good matches, commentary that somehow makes the product worse, and the worst comedy imaginable.

Re: NXT Thread II
Perhaps we need to just take Cody literally at his word? That everything is ultimately approved by Vince, but that he basically just gets an email with the NXT schedule and gives it a thumbs up? That would gel with what Cody is saying without Vince having full control over NXT, which I think it's painfully obvious that he does not. But he probably does have the power to nix segments he doesn't like, or to change match types if they are too similar to something on a WWE PPV (we saw this with Ciampa/Gargano II).
But given that I doubt Vince even watches NXT (maybe the Takeovers but certainly not the weekly show), it's hard for me to think he oversees the product like he does Raw and Smackdown.

Re: NXT Thread II
I love that Cody tweeted that, it's rocked you NXT fan girls so much.

Kobe Bryant was asked who he feels is the toughest opponent to guard in the NBA. Instead of picking OKC's Kevin Durant, Bryant went with Portland’s Brandon Roy.
"Roy 365 days, seven days a week. Roy has no weaknesses in his game."

I defend Vince all the time on this forum. I think I'm the only one. If I felt he was responsible for the success of NXT, believe me, I'd bring it up.

I mean, we don't really know for sure if he is or isn't. We don't know if he pays attention to it or not. Who knows, maybe he does approve everything, maybe he does pay attention and watch it. We all like to assume he doesn't because of how the main shows are written.

A quick google search:
Triple H was in London recently to announce the debut of NXT UK, which premieres this Wednesday. While speaking to the media, Triple H revealed that WWE COO Vince McMahon may have never watched an entire episode of NXT. The Game was quick to point out that it gives Vince an outsider perspective to the product.
"I don't know that he's ever even watched a full episode of NXT start to finish," Triple H said of Vince, via The Sun. "He's busy. He will pick up a lot from bits and pieces from what he sees. To me it's always amazing – his insight of things.
"I realize he just saw a snippet but what he will say about that snippet is a bigger overall arc to the entire product, and I'm like, 'That's really right.' I think it's great that he doesn't see all of it because it gives him a different perspective. It gives him an outsider view on it."

That doesn't sound like a guy who makes decisions to me.
I've always been under the impression, based on interviews and podcasts, that Vince cares about the business stuff, Raw, Smackdown, pay per views and maybe live events, and that's it. Prichard has said that there are plenty of things that Vince didn't have any input on while he was there. I remember him saying that about The Dirt Sheet and some other wwe.com content. And it makes sense. He can't possibly make decisions on all the main roster stuff, all the business dealings, the Mae Young Classic, NXT, every show on the network, MMC, etc. There's not enough time in the day, even for Vince McMahon.

I mean, we're NXT fans because NXT is actually good.

Hard for me to understand how anyone who likes wrestling wouldn't like NXT. It's just good storytelling and great matches, which is really all you could possibly ask from wrestling.

Re: NXT Thread II
Vince has a general idea of what NXT is doing and keeps tabs on talent there he is interested in, but it's mostly a purist's brand, made by and for wrestling purists.
Smackdown and RAW are more variety/entertainment shows which is what Vince is more interested in doing.
It's unfortunate that NXT is not an actual 3rd main roster brand, with the same salaries as the main roster. A lot of the underutilized or unappreciated main roster talent with strong in-ring talent but weaker mic skills/language issues are better suited on a brand like NXT. Smackdown used to be the main roster's "workrate" brand, but they've taken a hard shift into more promos in recent times.

Thing NXT does better than the main roster shows #137869:
Loved that the Candace, Nikki, Black segment involved no microphones. They know we understand what’s going on without the audio being captured. By doing so, they keep us believing we’re watching something real and minimize the weaknesses of Candace and Black as promos. Great touch.
Also, how **** hot is Candace? Good lord.

I mean, NXT literally does everything better than the main roster. The booking, the characters, the matches themselves, the constantly hot crowd (I know some people get turned off by the Full Sail crowd but Takeovers are never not molten hot)...it's just a vastly superior product. And I think what's perhaps more impressive is that NXT doesn't have to use any tricks to be better. It's still a PG wrestling show like Raw and Smackdown. It just seems to understand what a wrestling show needs to be, something Vince hasn't gotten in about fifteen years.

Dunne is finally wrestling on a Takeover card, and it's not a singles match. One of my few complaints about NXT:they have not done a good job pushing him. Agree?

I think the main reason for that is that he's positioned to be the top guy on NXT UK for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, I've always seen Dunne as an occasional treat rather than a weekly staple.

Re: NXT Thread II
Also, didn't he already wrestle Tyler Bate on a Takeover card or am I just remembering that wrong? Wasn't it the match where Dunne won the title?
