Zo Trier. 15 points on 5/9 FG — UNDRAFTED

And then he absolutely murders the hoop.

I haven't seen a Knicks player destroy the rim like that since Porzingis' rookie season.

Sexton looks just as bad as I thought he would be. I didn’t have him in my top 20 big board for a reason, and I was devastated on draft day. He gets blocked every time he tries to finish at the basket because he’s not creative with his finishes, he can’t explode through contact, and he’s short. His handle is awful. He doesn’t have a jump shot. And he doesn’t have the vision to make passes that aren’t in his direct line of sight. People really need to stop overrating raw athleticism when evaluating PG prospects.

Cedi looked really good at least.

Enjoyed watching the first half of Doncic's and Ayton's careers. Ayton's upside is off the charts and he'll post a great line as a rookie, but he also looks like he'll need some serious adjustment on both sides of the court. Gonna get rookied a lot this year and still look like a future star.

Doncic is as advertised, smart and big and can score in different ways. Still hard to figure out his upside but anyone who thought he'd bust should be defrosting the crow. He's had no problem getting free today and his vision looks like it will at worst be serviceable right away. (Sidenote: it's been awkward and sorta funny watching Mavs teammates have to pass the ball to DSJ on coach's orders, when they all know Doncic is better at initiating right now).

Some of that seems a little harsh but I also never saw the hype on Sexton. He plays hard and he had enough strength/athleticism to get by with that in college, but he never seemed to have dominant NBA athleticism and I never got what people thought he was going to do well consistently at the NBA level. You cant be a ball dominant combo guard who can't really shoot in the league. If he picks up a bunch of new stuff then he could be good but I don't like the package now (I also don't think his 'raw athleticism' is particularly great).

Ayton has potential to be a stud, but he plays way to soft and relying too much of that baby hook shot. Hope he can get out of the suns after his rookie contract where his skills can be developed.

Who did you want the Cavs to draft?

I wanted us to try to trade up. But from our options, SGA or Mikal Bridges.

I think Lowry is a good comparison for Sexton although I believe Sexton is a few inches taller. Lowry had alot of the same criticism about his height, shooting, his finishing, staying healthy, etc his first few years in Memphis. It just takes patience with these kids. Lowry was in the league a good 6 years before he started to blossom into a really good PG. Oladipo is another one that didn't break out until he was 25. Sexton is still only 19 so the Cavs should be patient.

In general almost all the rookies so far have had a similar type of impact on their games and scored anywhere from 10 to 15 points while dabbling in 4 to 7 rebounds or assists. I think overall they did pretty well for their 1st ever real regular season games and none of them looked bad or overmatched. Sexton or Bagley probably had the worst day of the group but even they weren't that bad looking in the time i seen a bit of them. I like what i see going forward from this group and the impact they make at the next level.

To be fair, Bagley played 12 minutes

DeAndre Ayton's opener: 18 points, 10 boards, 6 assist and a steal on 8/11 shooting and +17 p/m, against DJ.

Yeah wish he got some more minutes Bagley was still my main choice for the Hawks if he fell to us in this draft. He will be fine and do well in the nba im not worried about him at all.

Bagley put up 6/5 in just 12 minutes of play and on 50% shooting. Bagley played well tonight.

Ridiculously good/strong showing for a rookie in his 1st game against a player of DJ's caliber. Ayton's got elite potential and i hope to see him reach it one day.

I was in general talking about overall production wise. Impact for when they played Bags was right there with all of them and better than most.
