Nashty: Game 1 vs Mavs

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Thu Oct 18, 2018 4:57 am

How it works

Spoiler:
Anyone can vote for the 3-2-1 (including other fans from other forums) but you can only vote for the Suns players (or coach).

3 votes to who you think was a the best Suns player.
2 for the second best
and 1 for the 3rd best.

**EDIT: as of January something-or-other 2017, you can now distribute votes for the Nashty and Cactus however you please. You have a total of 6 votes to give out, but now you have the freedom to do what you want with those 6. The only condition which applies is no more than 3 votes can be given to one player (or coach) in either award. **

In the event of a Suns loss, you are also encouraged to vote for the Cactus of the game:

-3 votes for the player most responsible for the loss
-2 votes for the second most responsible
-1 for the third most responsible

Any votes with more than 3 players listed and not in the required format will not count. Voting will close before the start of the next Suns game.

After the thread closes, the votes will be tallied. The highest scoring total Sun gets 3 points, the next 2, and the third gets 1 point towards their season total. In the event of a tie in a count for a game, if the result of the game is a Suns win, a maximum of 4 players will be awarded points. A tie in the event of a loss will only result in a maximum of 3 players getting awarded points.

The player with the highest total at season's end wins the award!

The same applies for the Cactus of the Year, although of course the lowest tally at year's end takes it.

This is a very tough one.

I'll go with

+2 Ariza
+2 Booker (would give him the 3 but Ariza had a similar 3 pt game, played great D, had the same assists and twice the rebounds with no turnovers...Booker has 3 to Ariza's none.
+.75 Ayton (defense needs work but assists impressive)
+.75 Warren (nice for 3s, steals and scoring...defense better too)
+.5 Jackson ( nice stuff late, though against their scrubs...still can't ignore it..stepping up)

Gotta be +3 Booker, +2 Ariza and +1 Ayton. Shout outs to TJ and JJ. Hopefully this season will continue to have tough choices for the Nashty.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

HM to Jackson and Warren for improving their shot (6/8 from three) and their great contribution coming from the bench.

Jackson and Warren both with the solid contribution off the bench.

+3 Ariza ... lead dwindled when he went to the bench. He is a glue guy that scores !!
+2 Book ... Mr Clutch
+1 Koko ... His offensive system is the nuts ... can't wait until they really learn it

+3 for Booker
+2 for Ariza
+1 for Ayton

Was a good night for the majority of our guys but after these three, TJ and JJ definitely stood out the most. More of this please and thank you.

+3 Ariza (Phenomenal; he's worth every penny of that $15 million)
+2 Booker (Lightskin Mamba! I would have given him +3 had he not gotten abused on defense, especially by Wes Matthews)
+1 Ayton (Best center is franchise history! It's a nice feeling to finally have a 1st round pick who can produce right away. He still has ways to go on defense, but his offense and decision making have been better than advertised)

HM: Warren, Jackson (They set the tempo off the bench)

Super tough since so many are deserving but I'll give it a go

+2 Booker - the highest score here because he was productive, efficient and most importantly, CLUTCH
+2 Ayton - gotta give him props for starting out his NBA career with a bang. Not just a double-double with 18/10 but also logged 6 assists.
+1 Ariza - might be the best $15m we've spent on *any* combined FA by McD. The amount of rookie mistakes we made which he covered by recognizing it early were numerous and the fact that he's a pretty good all-round productive player already makes him worth it
+1 Kokoskov - the team tied for most assists in nearly a decade and without a legit starting caliber PG in sight. He's just making the most out of our player's average passing abilities and turning them into scoring opportunities. Great start to his head coaching career

+1.5 Booker
+1.5 Ariza
+1 Ayton
+1 JJ
+1 TJ
HM: Kokoskov

Weird thing is, each of these guys deserve 2x these figures. JJ and TJ hitting their threes was at least as important as any other development from last night.

+3 Ariza- Absolutely perfect player for Booker, JJ and Bridges to learn from.
+2 Booker- Every run the Mavs made in the 4th Booker had an answer
+1 Ayton- With a good PG he has 25. Needs some work on help side defense but overall what a first game.

+3 Igor
+1.5 Booker
+1 Ariza
+0.5 Ayton

All of the players mentioned plus JJ and TJ deserve more points, but the main thing for me was the offensive system. Night and day compared to Triano or Hornacek, not to mention Earl. Defence is work in progress but still encouraging compared to last season.

+0.5 Ayton
+0.25 Warren Jr.
+0.25 Josh Jackson

I also liked Canaan especially his defense.
