Ayton is a franchise altering player. The amount of attention he already demands is astounding

Way better than I thought he would be. Him and Booker will be insane duo.

So what protection do the Mavs have on that 1st they sent to ATL?

I might be crazy, but I like Booker initiating the offense. He's a decent facilitator but more to my surprise he can get his own shot. Next 7 will let us know who the really are: at DEN, at GSW, LAL, at MEM, at OKC, SAS, TOR.

Harrison Barnes alone would have changed this outcome

Yup. They're looked improved. Remember, this time last season, they're were literally the worst team in history.

Ayton + Booker seem like a great core; if they can acquire a third star prospect they're set.

Can't believe they don't have a PG - if only they kept Elfrid Payton

Ayton is still raw but not as raw as people would make you think

As much as I want to give credit to the Suns, the Mavs are pretty horrible.

There are some on this board who looked at Dallas sniffing a playoff spot this year... they should give their collective heads a shake.

They fired their GM after he finally put together a solid lineup that complemented each other. Weird decision.

this must be your first time watching booker  theres a reason they gave him that fat contract, he does this quite often

false!

He put up 24.9 PPG and 4.7 APG on 56% TS last season as a 21 year old. So no, it's not false. The guy already has four 40+ games and thirty-nine 30+ games, including a 70 point game, under his belt. He's gone unconscious scoring the ball plenty of times.

He may not have been as good as his raw stats suggested, but he was nowhere near as bad as his advanced metrics suggested, either. He's a great outlier example for advanced metrics.

None of this changes that scoring wasn't why booker looked great last night alone.

Their coach is legit, but my main takeaway from last night is to cool it on the Mavs being a potential sleeper playoff team. If a Harrison Barnes injury is a big difference maker, you probably don't have enough to make the playoffs in the West.

Was it playmaking? He's been doing that pretty well, too. His improvement as a playmaker went completely unnoticed last year and I saw plenty of Suns fans being mad about that being the case here on GB.

They did look good but remember that this was against Dallas who were missing Dirk and Barnes. Ayton is as good as advertised on offense but his defense was pretty poor (no shots, rookies aren't normally good on defense). Better teams will be able to exploit Booker and Ayton.

They're assist numbers also seem a bit inflated because Jackson/Warren/Ariza were on fire from 3. Warren averaged 0.3 threes per game last season, tonight may have been an anomaly

I think Ayton should be able able to get ROY easily. His numbers were great tonight and he wasn't even all that active. The

Think they are a legit SG/SF away from developing into a good team. It would be good for their longterm goals if they pick in the top 5-7 again.

They seem to have a number of SG/SFs. Maybe PG or PF but they are full of wings and Mikal Bridges didn't even play last night.
