Whatever. He doesn't slow the game down now. I never said I wanted him to slow the game down because I want him to have inside game. He rolls and dunks or gets the ball and shoots. He doesn't know how to face up and get to the hoop or has any back to the basket moves to punish the Draymond Greens of the world. If you want him to just start working on the three ball before his inside game, well we are just on two different pages. Ayton and 3 ball is plain senseless right now, and that's why he hasn't shot any as of yet.

Yea lets draft Ayton to shoot 3's and beat GS at their game versus, get a guy who can score easy buckets inside at will.

By forced post up, you mean mis-matches?

If Gobert, Adams, Jokic, Jordan, etc have to chase him around because he has an outside shot, it will be a lot more effective than trying to score inside against them...and it will give lanes for Booker, Jackson, Warren, etc to take it to the rim without a rim protector there.

So now Ayton is Steph Curry :nonono:

Whatever.

Let's not even talk about GSW since their dynasty is likely on the decline after this season but who is bringing back 90's basketball that is anywhere near the top 4 in either conferences?

Deandre has enough range, even a 3PT shot as seen in a training video. He has not used it so far as there is much more in his game. In the meantime why not ask the wings to learn how to shoot, which is their primary responsibility. If they can't do it there is always someone available in free agency.

The Suns just need to build something like Magic or Rockets of 90s and surround him with shooters, it's that simple.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they probably asked the wings to learn how to shoot. No, going back to 90s basketball is not a good idea.

You know what's funny? Only GS is winning titles playing this type of ball.....no one else.

Well, they are the only one winning titles period. But the Cavs won a title and their best lineup was with Love at C and when they played a team like the Pistons that year SVG said it sucked because Drummond couldn't run around trying to cover Love..he had his best rebounder 15 feet from the basket. He had to take him out.

The best Cs in today's game can hit 3s, outside of Gobert. Towns, Jokic, Cousins, Davis, Embiid (though he dipped a bit this past year from his rookie year). Gobert and Embiid are more valuable because of their defense though. Davis for both. Towns and Jokic for offense.

Ayton is offense. Gotta be versatile.

Why would they, they don't have a Deandre Ayton?

Play to the strengths of your talent.

None of the dominant big men today play majority back to basket, most have a good face up game and have a good 3PT shooting (aside from Embiid and AD)

AD was at 34% this year which isn't too bad. That's about where Ayton was in college. Definitely something Ayton should keep working on. He has the inside stuff down.

AD wasn't bad but I was thinking more KAT and Jokic

In this age where the inside game is being marginalized more and more, he's already so good down low, I don't get why he should limit himself to being just an 'inside' big

I don't really understand the people that want Ayton standing on the three point line.

If you just watch the preseason it is clear he is outstanding being positioned down low just for all the put backs and offensive rebounds he gets by being there.

Also - people are like he might be able to shoot 35% from 3 - he just almost shot 60% from 2. That is much more efficient than 35% from 3.

I know people have fallen in love with the 3 point shot, but 7 footers who can bully people like he can should stay in the low post.

His post game is pretty simple at the moment, but with everybody else using smaller centers and centers that want to shoot 3's now is the time to get a big man that can be dominant against them, and get them in foul trouble down low.

No one is saying he should just stand at the 3PT line. But having that range makes him so much more versatile and dangerous

No one wants him standing out there, but adding it to his game helps open up lanes if he drifts out on occasion. Especially if he can get to a respectable %. I wouldn't have him shooting many 3s unless he got close to 40% though. But it will depend on his 2 pt shot inside against real competition. It should exceed 60% but if it ends up like 55%, then he shooting 37% from 3 would be pretty equivalent anyway and would allow the rest of our team to be more efficient.

Ayton finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

He joined Alvan Adams and Shawn Marion as the only rookies in franchise history to record a double-double in their debut, according to the Suns.

Ayton was an ultra-efficient 8-for-11 from the field and made both of his free throws despite going up against veteran center DeAndre Jordan. Phoenix was plus-17 with Ayton on the court.

In addition to joining Suns lore with Marion and Adams, Ayton became one of two No. 1 picks since 1985 (Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons) to have a double-double and five or more assists in the first game of his career.

Alvan Adams easily had the best season ever for a Suns C, and oddly enough, it was his rookie season. It will be interesting to see if Ayton can perform better. His FG% should be higher, but Alvan Adams stats:

19 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.5 bpg, 1.5 spg

I wonder how many of those categories Ayton can beat him in.

Probably only in rebounds and maybe in points as well.

Expecting something like 18-20 points 10 rebounds 0.6 steals (too low?) 1.3 blocks which is still pretty good for a rookie season.

I think he will play. He looked fine during and after the game.

Unless this was something that happened at practice?

That swim move to get open at around the 2:15 mark was quite impressive.

I really hope so. Jokic will be his biggest test yet.
