I don't even think his reported wingspan was that great, but dude is so stout, strong and smart. Incredible basketball player to have on your team, from a coaching perspective.

lol aparently my dumb ass was think about our GM, Elton Brand lol.

I think people get overwhelmed with his size and strength. He's listed at 245 but then they show up at the arena and he's closer to being 265. We see Joel throw around Whiteside at that weight but he's in a 7' frame. Horford is packing that into a compact 6'9" frame and his strength level catches him off-guard.

Horford is not some exceptional specimen but he is a cerebral and experienced player with sound fundamentals. He is a good defender but if Embiid wants to take it to another level he needs to score much more easily on players like him.
Attracting double teams and kicking out to the shooters is one of the few ways to get this Boston defense off balance and create open shots.

As good as he is, he might need a few years of seasoning to compete with these top tier teams. The immense amount of talent shown early by Joel and Ben has led to unrealistic expectations for the team.

They absolutely are elite prospects, capable of taking this team to the Finals. Patience is the everything here. Key thing to remember is the amount of games our core has played together. Golden State was good before they became great, and great before they became elite.

Embiid has to realize he’s at least 4 inches taller than Horford. As evidence by the easy 6 foot basket he shot over Horford near the end of the game yesterday.

Instead of lowering his shoulders and trying to play bully ball. By lowering his shoulders. He becomes smaller especially with the ball lower (aka getting blocked by terry rozier) and Horford.

Just keep it simple. Someone needs to teach embiid to keep the ball above his shoulders and shoot from close up range. Horford cannot defend that shot. I’m
Just shocked Brett brown who coached Tim Duncan. Embiid needs to look how Duncan keeps the ball up high in the paint.

That’s the problem. Embiid thinks he’s a guard and puts the ball too low.

Embiid unfortunately is developing bad habits and thinks he’s can over power everone. He can’t. He’s gotten stronger. But there are lots of strong guys in nba. Embiids advantaged is he’s taller than most guys. He’s 3 inches taller than Baynes. 4 inches over Horford.

Joel is a ridiculous talent but big solid guys get into his head and his ego can't handle it at this stage of his career. He should be passing out of double teams and whenever he his crowded under the basket or gets his sh#t blocked. Instead his competiveness makes him stubborn. It's mildly annoying but I hope its just a matter of more experience than anything else.

Embiid gets his shot blocked more often when he's on the left side of the hoop. He often goes up with the ball in his right hand bringing it straight into the defender. That's why someone like Horford can block his shot who's 5 inches shorter and has less length than Embiid. He needs to work on finishing with his left more often when under the goal on the left side. Those are the things you work on over the summer.

Why don't we just give Horford a max contract this summer and play him next to Embiid.

Take Amir out. He's useless.

That 1 legged fade away he took last night should be his go to shot, that's just unstoppable.

Knowing our luck, he'll rapidly start to decline after we sign him and be plagued with injuries. Sound familiar?

Yeah but that'll happen regardless, at least this way it also weakens the Celtics. (Or it causes them to trade for Davis)

Horford and especially Baynes are very easy to figure out defensively. I keep saying it over and over again. Boston maybe put Horford on embiid 12-14 minutes defensively though out the game. It’s cause there is no way Boston will want to waste Horford energy level having to defend embiid for 30 minutes. Look at around 6 minutes in 1st quarter. Horford was gassed.

Embiid should take Baynes out in the mid low block and shoot the easy 6 foot jumper. There is no way Baynes can defend that cause he’s just shorter than embiid. Instead. Embiid tried to bully Baynes and that’s simply not gonna to work. Baynes is one strong dude. Unless embiid gets absolute within Layup post position when he’s fed the ball. It’s not a good ideal to try to back Baynes down starting in mid low block. Wastes shock clock Time as well.

I would like to see him in more pick & pop opportunities. Save him some energy against low post defenders...

Embiid engaged?

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Pretty sure it's a running joke with Embiid and Rubin. During the summer Embiid posted a picture of Rubin with (I assume) Rubin's girlfriend saying they were engaged even though they weren't.

Baynes is allowed to push, hack Embiid in the post. Most fouls are ignored by refs? Also, double teams make those post shots even more difficult. Got to give credit to Baynes, he has improved a lot.

Embiid and Simmons have to play through those fouls or like you said take 6 to 10 ft fadeaways.
