The Wizards poor defensive rebounding (We grabbed 33 defensive rebounds and gave up 22 offensive rebounds. Miami also grabbed 33 defensive rebounds and only gave up 7!) and our inability to hit 3s. We made (7-26) 3s altogether. Our big 3 made 3 combined! That cannot happen, especially if were going to play small. What's the point of going small and getting killed on the boards if were not shooting and making 3s in a high volume?
Mahinmi also being a foul magnet means he's untenable as a starter. I don't think they need Howard to be great, just be a presence and grab rebounds. We survive our pitiful 3 pt shooting and probably win going away if we limited 2nd chances. The same goes if we simply got up and made more 3s.
Agreed, not worried about the rebounding with Howard and Otto on this team.
I hated the rotations, but Brooks (and others) usually have garbage rotations the first 10-15 games to see whats what.
- Otto needs to be the 4. I think he could be an All-NBA player there. Im serious.
- Kieff and Green shouldn't play together, but either can play small ball 5 well with Oubre/Otto at the wing because they rebound so well.
- Rivers and Wall CANNOT play together. Neither is a good enough shooter. But, Rivers does show good aggression and scoring instinct as a creator.
- Sato needs to step up. Otto has some excuse because of how well he played outside of scoring, plus he didnt get the ball much. But Sato had a number of opportunities to put a stamp down.
