The Magic has no need for a forward. The only way Barrett looks good in Magic blue is if RealGMer's see him as a SG.

I do not. And thus, this is becoming a vote about the best player, which is not the question asked.

i) Orlando must get better at PG.
ii) Orlando will soon move on from Fournier and will likely get a Max-free agent at this slot,.

Together, Orlando is best suited to draft the BPA-PG.

..

What if the BPA is comparable to Paul George / Jimmy Butler and BPA-PG is comparable to Elf?

You can’t draft based solely on position. You take the hand you’re dealt in any given class.

To me Cam Reddish just feels like the perfect fit for you guys. He can play the 2 or the 3. He is the best shooter out of the top 4 guys. I think he's the best prospect in the draft if he plays with a motor.

I just think he would fit with this crazy length thing to guys are going with, plus he is a great fit offensively with his shooting and ability to create for himself and others off the dribble.

I actually agree. For a team still as strapped for talent as we are you have to draft BPA no matter what position he plays. If RJ is there when we are picking you draft him && if that means you have to move on from AG and trade him for a guard thats what you have to do.

We are not in the position to be drafting fit/need over BPA. I learned that last year when I wanted us to draft Young. Would Young have been a better fit? Sure, but Bamba has the much higher ceiling and should have been the pick over Young if he was on the board and I'm glad Bamba fell to us over him.

Yup. I am excited about BIG but at the end of the day I’m a Magic fan before in a player fan. We gave AG a trade friendly contract should a good offer come our way.

With no great PG prospects (at least at this point) available in the 2019 draft, I’m happy to take any of the prized SG/SF prospects projected to go at the top of this class. Go extra big with that guy at SG until we find the deal we want with AG for a PG.

Yup very smooth and unbelievably skilled. The only question around him is his motor. Everything I've heard so far is he has tighten up his jumper over the summer and his jumper has been lights out. That is a great sign.

Don't really think he is a Magic target, this is kind of a draft thread.

I voted for Barrett because I think he's the best player. I'm certainly not getting caught up on the idea that he might be better served to be a SF than a SG.

The Magic need to take the top overall talent and figure out the rest later.

Worst case scenario, you can flip Gordon, Isaac or Bamba if you absolutely have to for a PG/SG if there's a superstar prospect at their spot that you have to draft.

I hope other collegiate athletes remember Jontay’s injury when they’re considering coming out versus staying. The risk is enormous. Get drafted, work out full time on your game.

Right now I would expect a host of players to take the $125k G-league deal for kids just out of high school, and skip the freshman year entirely. You get paid. You get NBA-level training. You get exposure and more game time.

The one-and-done club could be over.

I think it's going to be over soon regardless. Silver wants players to be able to opt to go straight to the NBA out of HS again. I think it happens within the next 3-4 years. 2022 is apparently the target date.

Duke has an exhibition tonight on watchespn. So another chance for people to see Zion and RJ and a good chance to see Cam for the first time (if he plays, dealing with a rib injury).

I feel like the narrative is wrong. The question is not, "should the Magic draft the bet player?" Of course the answer there is yes.

For me the question being posed in the title of this thread is, "given the draft slot the Magic will have, who should be drafted?"

So if the Magic draft 10th, Barrett, Williamson, and Reddish cannot be the answer.

At 10, the Magic is looking at a bunch of combo-forwards, and none are remotely need selections. So: one is left with take a chance on Ja Morant.

This is why I tabbed him. And yes this BPA-PG might very well be the next Payton. But at 10, that is a probable back-up, not starter. For example: Payton would be a good backup for the Magic if the team had a starter-quality option.

So I stand by Morant as my choice.

Should we deal sad or excited for Tre Jones and Marques Bolden?
Both are NBA caliber players whose draft stock could get killed this season. But they also could be part of the best starting five ever assembled at an Amateur level, and frankly, will be projected by some to go undefeated this year.
