I can envision those two huge egos tinkering with our team chemistry as a recipe for regression.

Lakers players menaged to make offensive rating usless
They have guy with offensive rating of 150
Lonzo has 130
McGee 131
in reality their pace is just ridiculous and will probably lead to several huge injureis within 30 games because it's not possible for human to play like that for long streaches without getting hurt.

Re: Official Speculation Thread ‘18-19’: XIX: Rise of the BIG
Someone said it is dumb to trade AG after he is just hitting his trajectory. Is that true, or is it dumb to not use assets to field a starting lineup that can get us back to the playoffs? Personally, I am willing to predict that Jon Isaac will show more improvement over the course of this season than AG has done over one. I think the same person said they weren’t “feeling JI” the night before he dropped 18 and 12 so maybe they prefer AG next to Bamba? I think Bamba and JI are an elite frontcourt pairing that can torture the NBA for a decade and I think JI will be a far more efficient scorer than AG. JI can be a go to guy in certain situations, not every night, but he iced the Celtics with a dagger 2 nights ago. That’s very nice progress for only playing 27 NBA games.
What we need are 2 things - a PG who can score and defend the Pick and Roll and a wing who can score. If we have those players next to JI and Bamba, we have something. How are we going to get those things? I think tough decisions will need to be made, and they most likely involve moving Vuc and AG since those are our two most tradable assets and what we need for this team is not going to get handed to us.
I love the concept of BIG as much as the next guy, but AG is not showing me too much improvement so far. What he is showing me is that he has a better coach who understands he is not Paul George. We need a Paul George though - someone who can score in crunch time and AG can possibly facilitate us getting such a player in a trade.

The only way you trade AG is if a premium PG becomes available and currently and literally the only one I would trade him for is Damian Lillard.
If not him you simply wait it out. There's way too many PG's available this off season to do an unnecessary trade.

Agree, there is nothing happening yet, but the magic can get in the mix for a wing or PG with the AG/Vuc package.

I would definitely trade Gordon as part of a package for a high end starting PG right now, but there aren't many of those guys on the block either.
Let's see where teams are in February. If someone is unexpectedly out of it, they might be looking to sell.

Correct. What evidence would anyone have to conclude that it would be “awesome”?

There is no evidence, but it’s not the dumbest thing a FO could do. I can think of far worse things than taking a shot on 4 lottery picks playing together.
Ball of course can not shoot well and has his faults, but I am not one to try and project a PG after 1 season. I found it takes 3-4 to see what they will become. If you can get Ball for a player like Vuc, it’s probably worth doing simply because if it fails, worst case you have a guy on a rookie deal and you let him go. Plus, Ball can pass very well and that is something I’d like to see the Magic have from the PG spot instead of having to work inside to out all the time.
My logic is that we are most likely going to loose Vuc anyway so we should see what we can get for him. If we have better options, by all means go for it, but I could see the Lakers making a panic trade.

Trading AG for a point guard that can do it all isn’t that far fetched. The problem is finding a team that has one on the block and is in need of a complimentary player like AG. There are plenty of players in the league that can play defense and rebound. Guys that can create offense out of thin air and close out games? Not so much.

Interestingly, Lonzo is shooting 42% from three on 6.3 attempts. He shot 41% on 5.4 attempts in college. His shot is ugly as hell, but is he actually a doomed shooter?

I'm harsh on Ball, i don't think he's anywhere near as good as some people rate him expect on the defensive end. I imagine it would take a lot more than just Vuc to get him though, I'd give up Vuc for nearly any recent young top 5 pick just based off potential alone even if i'm not high on them right now but i don't see that happening.
All the trade talk in this thread, it's unnecessary in my opinion. No one on this team should be untouchable it should be fluid based on what becomes available. The only guy we really should be actively shopping is Vuc, other than that we should be calling teams to ask what would you want for x player not calling and saying what would you give us for AG.
We don't need to panic trade for a point guard, we are fine staying this course for the season. Patience is key here we do not want to end up with a mediocre point guard on a long deal just because everyone wanted to see some better play TODAY instead of waiting to get the right point guard who will help more tomorrow.

He had streaks last season where he made some shots too, the college stat is misleading because he wasn't a good free throw shooter which is often a better sign according to scouts of how a players shot will translate to the NBA. It isn't just the shooting that worries me though, he struggles finishing and struggles penetrating. Guys like Rondo or Rubio who have streaky shots are great at getting by their man and into the paint which collapses the defense and allows them to kick it out to open guys or go in for the finish. Lonzo can't really do any of that yet. I'd want nothing to do with him if we have to give up real assets.
