No. No we shouldn't.

It's one thing to be upset about your situation. It's another thing to allow your feewings to cause you to perform as gutlessly as Towns has.

He's pretty much proving Jimi Butler right. He's a numbers guy who's impact on winning is highly questionable.

When Harden came available, it was purely a money situation. He had holes in his game but he was a winning player. Can't say the same about Towns or Wiggins. They just have holes in their game ... obtw are now astronomically paid.

The 'James Harden' situation I'm following is Beal.

They're in tear-it-down mode and Wall's extension hasn't even kicked in yet. Yikes.

1. THAT'S A FAIR CONCERN REGARDING THE COST TO ACQUIRE A GUY LIKE KAT.

2. I see it more as immaturity than 'diva-ness'. He's still a couple of years from his prime. By age 25...he should be more focused.

3. A core of, say...Trae, KAT and RJ Barrett would be the most talented collection of young players we've ever had. That's a crew capable of going toe to toe with the 76ers/Celtics/Bucks in a few years.

NOTE: Beal is indeed another of those situations to keep an eye on. Prince (in theory) would likely be a principal piece of any trade offer. But they already have Oubre, Otto and Troy Brown on the wings up there.

So a third team might become necessary.

Age. Current value. Projected ceiling.

Our best trade chips are:

1) John Collins
2) Taurean Prince
3) Our 2019 draft pick
4) Kent Bazemore

Of those, TP and Bazemore are the oldest, and have the lowest future ceiling. (Projecting we get a top 7 prospect next summer.)

From a value/positional perspective -- TP and KB make the most sense to move to a team closer to contention.

Add'l NOTE: From what I can tell, John Collins seems off limits in trade talks...for now.

Spoiler:
Owner Tony Ressler spoke at the Hawks event about the number of significant improvements the Hawks have made off the court – arena renovations, practice facility and G League franchise. The goal is an NBA championship. Keeping players like Collins in the fold is the key to success.

“A player like John Collins is not going to stay with a team if it’s a second-tier franchise,” Ressler said. AJC

:-?
It's a good thing Chicago didnt have this kind of approach with a 24 year old Jimmy Butler after his 2nd season. Just for comparison sake (I'm not saying he's Jimmy).

^I do like Taurean. He's a good dude and will be a starter in this league for years.

Spoiler:
I think the difference in our opinions and the difference between ours and the Chicago approach...we are in the beginning stages of our rebuild. Chicago was already a competitive, playoff team with a league MVP on board. We're likely years from contention and expect to be drafting in the lottery again.

We're so early in our rebuild. And Taurean as the oldest, least talented member of our core will be up for a contract extension first.

If we have a younger, cheaper, more talented option on the roster (likely drafted next summer) -- it makes little sense to make a huge offer to re-sign him. In summer 2020, another team likely will make a huge offer in his restricted free agency.

Historical NOTE:

Chicago did engage in a similar approach 18 years ago when they traded Elton Brand to the Clippers for a lottery pick -- a year after Brand had been named Rookie of the Year.

Admittedly, that trade didn't work out well.

Well, until we have said younger, cheaper and you hope more talented player there is nothing to be done regarding trading Prince at the moment.
(I realize you've started adding 2020 to your posts  )

Unless we get a really good offer. And with TP's production. I expect the good teams and the fringe-playoff teams to come a-calling.

For both Bazemore and Taurean.

In truth, I hope we're soon approaching the point where draft picks no longer are appealing to us. A player like KAT would be ideal -- a star player years from his prime.

A player like Beal would also be worth considering. (Though his age would obviously mean an adjustment to our timeline. But for a player that talented, you make the deal and adjust accordingly.)

Cavs look like they've already given up.

I feel bad for Korver.

KAT is super risky.

What if he never grows into a winner? At supermax, the team won't be good.

If trading for him, it'd not be for Prince or Collins.

Friggin wiz. Why do they think that they can ignore their frontcourt season after season. Remember when Beal/Wall claimed to be the best backcourt in the NBA?
