Per NBA.com stats, on catch & shoot 3s he was 44% last year and 45% this year.

Like Neil and Stacy also said during that game is that Payne has found his position: off-guard.

Lauri & Zach on the PnR or Pick n Pop should be godly. Lauri loves to drive too. I think we have to clear cornerstones now and that's pretty damn exciting. If Lauri continues to develop that handle, how do you stop these two?

Guys are going to want to play in Chicago with them.

What is this sorcery? Payne hitting three after three. Felicio playing actual NBA basketball. Jabari Parker hustling on defence. Chandler Hutchison - is this even the same guy that played in the preseason? :D

Zach LaVine is something else - there are explosive players, and then there's Zach. He is just fun to watch, you never know what he is going to amaze you with next. Hornets clearly had planned for LaVine, but he still dropped 30+.

Parker maybe finding himself in the context of the Bulls. Still don't like the long twos, and probably never will. That said, probably his best game as a Bull so far, and his most engaged.

Carter looks like a natural on defence, just knowing what to do. Needs to be more aggressive on offence, hasn't really had the ball bounce his way either. Looks like he is having confidence issues and thinking too much.

Hornets chose to leave Payne open at the 3pt line even when it was clear that he got hot. Not that I am complaining.

Hope Portis' injury is nothing serious. Have to say though, that his game was not going too good.

RoLo DNP absolutely the right decision.
From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

Lavine is doing great but whenever he drives that lane I worry about an injury. I commend him for not thinking about his ACL injury but the way he tweaks himself on those drives always has me worrying

I was a big Lavine believer before the Bulls but damn I didnt think he'd be this good. His defense needs work but I do see effort.

If you watch a couple of his highlight dunks from last night, what's worrying is the way he lands. Like in this one dunk, where he lands on one leg:

He survived it, but man it looked a little awkward and you can see how that could easily go the other way.

A couple times against the Mavs, though not as awkward:

And of course Hutch did something similar too:

Interesting, I had no idea he was shooting so well in catch and shoot situations.

Once you get past that players that barely played or barely shot 3's, he is in some pretty good company.

I saw this too, the first dunk highlight but from a different angle. I didn't purposefully look for it, but I couldn't help but notice he landed a bit awkward.

Somebody needs to point it out to him.

I know we are all good vibing on Zach, but he did get dramatic and pulled the “I didn’t feel wanted” card when the Bulls didn’t offer him a super lucrative offer right off the bat in FA.

I'm sorry but this sudden ragging on Butler every chance there is, is becoming really tiresome.

For the majority of his tenure with the Bulls, Jimmy has been nothing but a stand up player and teammate. Was it perfect throughout? No. But most players time on a team if they've been there a while, there are a always a handful of incidents which could be spun as a negative for the player.
Why so serious?

I agree about the ragging on Butler. I loved having on our team. So he's kind of a dck. He delivers on the court. Time to move on.

In other news, I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but Archi actually ran the offense pretty good last night. I think he looked like a legit bench player. Nice drive and pass to Hutch for the dunk.

Question on Payne: How does a player get through all the layers of coaching he's had to get to the NBA without learning that you're supposed to face the basket when you shoot? It's amazing. His shot looks as odd as Noah. He looks like me shooting, and I never played organized basketball in my life. Shocking that he made all those threes.

Once Lauri is back Zach's ppg will drop some.

If the Bulls have any competent Basketbologists on their staff, Lauri will be taking shots away from front court players, not Zach.

You can run a lethal 2 man pick and pop game with those 2.

If Minny had kept Lavine and traded us Wiggins instead, they'd be freaking unstoppable.

Thank you Tom Thibodeau.

IDK if Butler and LaVine would coexist well.

1. Might have been the owner's preference to keep Wiggins over Lavine...as it also might be owner's choice to build around KAT/Wiggins even though Thibs may very well hate those two as players. Thibs can't burn another bridge, and expect to get another shot soon, so may just be succumbing to owner wishes and collecting his massive paycheck.

2. I'd bet Jimmy would love Lavine. I've always heard of Zach as gym rat...just like Jimmy...and unlike what you hear about Wiggins/KAT. I would think they'd be workout pals and be dragging others on the team into their workouts.

3. Remember we should've seen these two together...not traded for each other.

Doug McF***ingDermott for crying out loud.

Great salvage job...but let's not forget assets and opportunities were flushed away so horribly that we forced ourselves into said salvage job - jettisoning an all NBA 2nd team caliber player on a good contract, while wasting much of said player's prime.

Too bad we'll never see it. I think the two would've been great together.

Edit: If Jimmy had a young fella like Zach on his team, who busts his ass, the famed drama is a lot less or even non-existent.
