Start Manny Parra right now!

Post#1 » by Comet » Sun Aug 12, 2007 1:17 am

I don't give a flying **** how much money the Brewers spent on Jeff Suppan. It was a mistake, move on. What matters most is production, which has not come out of Suppan as expected.

Parra has looked good in his few starts. If not him, start Villanueva, I don't care, just get Suppan out of the rotation!

Vargas sould be out of the rotation before Suppan.

That 4.90 ERA is really impressive isn't it?

Dont care what his era is now. I want an experinced guy playing who has had success. I dont want anther rookie in the roation. Gallardo I am ok with. Parra can remain in the bullpen.

I also remember you saying you wanted Counsell and Graffanino at 3rd base over Braun because of their experience.

Jeff Suppan has sucked since mid May. He's had more than enough time to get going. I've changed my "Soooooooooooooup" chants to "Boooooooooooo". Manny Parra should be in there.

When Ben Sheets comes back this should be the rotation:

Ben Sheets
Chris Capuano
Dave Bush
Yovani Gallardo
Claudio Vargas

I know, both Suppan and Vargas suck, but for some reason the Brewers win more when Claudio is starting.

We brought in suppan for september and the playoffs he is not going any where if anybody should be out the rotation it is Cappy who hasnt won a game since may. You got to do something about that. I would put CV in the roation before parra though and send cappy down to aaa.

So let me get this straight. Just because we gave Jeff "Hammonds" Suppan a bad contract doesn't mean he'll pitch well. Cappy has sucked too but Suppan has sucked more.

Found it.

Whos to say this guy in his rookie year will do any better then graff is doing? I personally don;t think he will. I would rather some experience at third base.

I said because of their defense and because i didnt think they would call braun up till september because of the way graf was hitting last year i thought he would get out of it.

and i am sorry i have realistic expectaitions for rookies when they come up.

Suppan has not sucked more.
Suppan has a 4.16 in the last month and since june 22 he has only giving up 5 runs once
Cappy in his last 9 starts has a 5.35. 1.50 WHIP. Cappy has giving up more then 5 runs 4 four times. Two of those times he has only gone 3 innings.

This is what we signed Suppan for. To pitch in the playoffs to pitch in september. You act like Suppan is killing this team. Cappy is killing this team by only going 3 innings 4 innings and **** up are bullpen.

So you want to start Villanueva, a guy who has been struggling lately because he's been overworked? Isn't that going in the complete opposite direction? Please tell me how there would be any logic behind that decision.

I'm fine with how they're using Parra. As a guy who blew out his arm only a few seasons ago, I don't want to see him overworked in his first season in the bigs because of a panic-button move.

And considering Suppan has looked better as of late, I hardly see this as the time to call for this move. Maybe 4 starts ago, but not now.

I would still like to see Suppan go 6 at least, though. Even Bush was able to do that yesterday.

Pitchers often perform better when they're on a set schedule. There would be no warming up, sitting down, then warming up again if he was in the starting rotation.

Normally I would agree, but to me it just looks like Villy is tired out there. Of course, that's just an observation with absolutely no factual information to back it up, but I know I'm not the only one who thinks so.

I think even with the set schedule, if we were to start him at this moment at least, it wouldn't work well. Now if we gave him some rest, then threw him in Vargas' spot, it could be different.

It just seems like doing that right now in panic would be disasterous.

Well he's had 3 days off in a row. If we can get through tomorrow without using him and then have him throw a couple side sessions and then put him in over Vargas for his next start then I think he will be fine.
