LeVert screwed up trying to make a play in Detroit. Russell screwed up because he wanted to look cool trying to no look pass the ball. Pretty significant difference to me.

It's the carelessness that has me aggravated. What he did was completely unnecessary last night. I'm glad he owned up to it, but actions speak louder than words and thus far I'm not seeing the carelessness being addressed by him. It just keeps happening.

LeVert screwed up trying to make a play in Detroit. Russell screwed up because he wanted to look cool trying to no look pass the ball. Pretty significant difference to me.

It's the carelessness that has me aggravated. What he did was completely unnecessary last night. I'm glad he owned up to it, but actions speak louder than words and thus far I'm not seeing the carelessness being addressed by him. It just keeps happening.

I don't think this is a conscious decision he makes. It's an ingrained habit for high risk/low reward plays that you can't change overnight. It's analogous to changing shooting form. If you're trying to remove a hitch you have to consciously think about not doing it every time until that amendment becomes unconscious.

Indulge me while I play armchair psychologist for a second. He makes plays like this because some of the highest praise he's experienced is for being a flashy passer. You execute one of those flashy plays and the high you get will tide you over for however many turnovers.

To stop these plays you have to turn off the flashy passer for at least a while. Otherwise he can't adjust that risk/reward threshold on passes in any timely fashion, because he'll continue to get the mixed messaging of adulation and scolding on decisions where precision as fine as inches and milliseconds determine success.

22 yo D'Angelo Russell is finally playing the system comfortably. He's shooting 40.3% from the field, 44.8 % from 3PT range. His career was at 34%, In 5 games this season you have seen a 10% jump. At 22.

Steph Curry at 22 was a 44% 3 point shooter. That's the angle you should be watching this from.

At 22 yo Steph Curry was turning over the ball at a 3.1 per game rate.
At 22 yo D'Angelo Russell is turning over the ball at a 3.0 per game rate.

Steph Curry, I'm talking from the end moments in games. Had the habit of turning over the ball in the clutch moments.

That's what I'm look at this from. I'm not looking at this from what are we going to pay Russell. That's of no concern to me or you. That's Sean Marks decision. But from where he is now to when we got him, he clearly has improved.

That last seconds play when a defense traps you and you're passing it around wit a rushed time clock in your head to do something. That is a situation a 22 yo. 1 year out of college, doesn't experience so much. Steph Curry and Klay went through that same thing. It drove Mark Jackson crazy. All I'm saying is chill. We 5 games in.

For all yall know we might actually blow the Warriors doors down tomorrow and get our ass kicked by the Knicks. It's the highs and lows of a season wit a young team.

It was pointed out on the Nets postgame. He's adjusted to the offense. Yall taking the turnover as a season blow. We're a lower tier playoff seed team. This is how the season will go. Win 2, in the 6th seed, lose 3 in the 9th, win 1 back to 8th.

We're 5 games into the season wit a 23 yo backcourt between Dinwiddie, Russell and LeVert. We're averaging 20 turnovers and 2 - 3 after 5 games. We cut down the turnovers we're 4 - 1 or 5 - 0.

It's not the end.

We are not a playoff team.

I slept on it and while I'm not as mad as I was last night, I'm still done. Russell doesn't get it. If he wants to look cool while pissing away all of the hardwork he and his teammates did in a game versus one of the best teams in the league, he can do so on another team next season. I hope the Nets trade him or let him walk.

You cannot justify paying this kid money anywhere near to what his cap hold is.

Give me someone like Jason Tatum or Donovan Mitchell who takes this game seriously. I'd gladly advocate the Nets paying them 20 mil or more.

We're not talking contract. I think that's getting to you more than it needs to. We're talking about the player. At 24 Steph and Klay was just like that. You focusing on the really extreme bad. I could easily point out how Levert is 2 yrs. older or how he screwed up in Detroit.

It's going to be a season of triumphs and failures. The Nets are not the same team from last year. We're around top 7 in the league this season shooting the 3. Our bench is better. Yeh I wanted last night's win badly too. We didn't put them away, Russell took responsibility for it, that's all he can do. In reality you're dealing wit the growth of a 22 year old.

I'm going to need for you to stop comparing Steph and Klay to Russell. Russell ceiling is a bench player. Steph and Klay was not "just like that" at no age what so ever. It's not just that one play , it's the amount of mistakes he makes and what he doesn't do. Why can't you understand that? the guy is not that good.

Comparing Russell at age 22 5 games in to Steph who was putting up near elite level efficiency from the field at age 22 is a stretch.
