Insane that he's never taken more than 14 shots in a game. Jobs needs to be lost if he doesn't take at least 15 in the next game with Booker out. That number should really be 25, though.

Thank God for Ayton. He has shown a spin move in the low post, up and under, left and right spin hook shots, sick J, rolling ability, passing out of the post, ability to get deep post position, guard out in space, rebound and protect the rim.....as a ROOKIE!!

Still very early and I'm much more interested to see where we are at the end of 2018 once we have a sample size of about half the season to evaluate but Ayton has been very good for us. If only we have the results to show for it. Unfortunately for us, we're running through the gauntlet until probably mid-December with only 6 (imo) definitive non-playoff teams to play.

Ayton needs more touches. Run everything thru him, idc. His usage % is under 20 and for this team that's way too low, especially since Jackson is over 25%...

Such a shame we hired a coach from Europe where they are allergic to giving big men the ball the same year we FINALLY get a franchise center for the first time.

Here is some Sidery type early limited sample size numbers and lists of players with similar numbers....not just for Ayton but if you click on the tweet, it opens a thread of tweets, and it goes through a number of rookies and De'Aaron Fox.

“It's too many things we have to polish up," Suns rookie Deandre Ayton said. "I'm glad we're staying home for quite awhile to bounce back on our feet before we get back on the road. Once we get a win under our belt, I think we'll be alright."

Ayton then asked how many losses was that in a row?

Five, big fella.

"I'm not used to that, but it's on to the next one," Ayton said. "It's a lot of games, but I get tired of hearing it's a lot of games. I play every game like it's my last. We've just got to keep getting better."

Great to hear that he is not confortable at all with losing games.

Trolling nonsense. Igor ran an offense when he coached Georgia where all his plays ran through their big man.

You know who that was? Zaza friggin Pachulia. He uses his bigs, even when they aren't that skilled.

RE: Ayton. So, so, so disappointed after watching him in person at the Denver game getting dominaytoned by Jokic. Then last night was the straw with his matador D... I mean there has been ZERO improvement in his Defense in like 3 weeks. What the hell are they working on in practice?

I was sooo excited for the DeAndre and called him GernerAYTONal... and so far he isn't and may not ever be. The dude needs to grow a pair. He needs to assert himself. He needs to care. He is playing scared. There is no leadership and he is content playing within the system. I thought he was going to cry on the bench. Aldridge KILLED him last night... and DeRozan. OMG. There is no Bully-Ball, no DominAYTON. He better throw that shirt away until he scores 30 and 15.

I don't know what it is... the pressure of the NBA? I guess, he is up against MEN for the first time in his career, but STEP the freak UP already. This is your trade, your career, your life and you've got fanboys like me who are waiting for you to do something GREAT.

It's the GOOD or GREAT problem in the NBA. Lots of players are good, but few have the heart, work ethic and leadership qualities to be GREAT. I have a real problem with the NBA players who are UBER gifted athletically and stop. It's the Shawn Marion mindset and they are GOOD enough and they never make the leap.

Ayton is so freakin' gifted, but will he care enough and have the killer ALPHA MALE instinct to be GREAT? I don't see it yet. I want to.

I made a similar post about Ayton. The only time I've seen him play with any passion was during the 2nd quarter of the Grizzlies game.
There was a lil 4-5 min stretch where he played aggressively.Ended p making about 5-6 shots in a row.Looked awesome. In fact, I was beginning to wonder if he was actually underrated as a prospect.I know he has it in him, but he might be getting caught up in the genral malaise of Suns basketball. The culture is toxic. It's so sad to see.I knew the passion was gone when Sarver decided to reduce the purple in the teams color scheme. He highlighted the Orange & Black and the energy started feeling like a Halloween horror movie marathon.Purely depressing.Players come here & become apathetic

His comments at times have bothered me. Like when he said he's an entertainer not a basketball player. I want our guys to have that Killer Instinct that Book does. I hope I am overanalyzing him. Don't get me wrong, I like him a lot as a player. He has everything you could ask from that position and more. But I hope he doesn't make us regret passing on Doncic.

I was and still am a huge Doncic believer but I'm still encouraged by Ayton and he's still my second favorite prospect in this draft class. Dude has some real skills he can build on. The defense stuff is real but honestly it's totally to be expected; partly because that was a real issue of his coming out but mostly because most bigs simply take time to develop on that side of the ball. They get rooked by the refs and it takes a little experience to understand what you can and can't get away with. Plus some of these crafty vets you have to face a couple of times to understand how to defend them.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Yeah, I'm like Sarver right now with my ZERO patience. The refs haven't done Ayton any favors, and when he is in foul trouble the D is markedly worse. He has the physical skills to be dominant for sure...

My biggest complaint is the lack of a killer instinct. You've got it, or you don't. Passive personalities and people vs. dominant people and personalities. I wanted to see Ayton pissed off and put Aldridge on his ass. DeRozan dunked on him or around him 2 or 3 times? That should NOT happen... at least never again. Send a message that you aren't going to get pushed around in this league.

I hate to say it, but Emiid was right about Ayton's defense. Mark your calendar for Nov. 19th to see if Ayton has enough passion, and mental fortitude to stand up to Joel. I fear it is going to be more of the same.

He's young there is still hope that over time he becomes a franchise player who can put the Suns on his back and carry us for a game or stretches in a game... but he has a LOONG way to go. I'm a still a fan and want him to succeed... but for the love of god show us a little killer instinct.

Disappointing but also I would be lying if I said I'm seeing something unexpected. Very few fans put weight into that comment about Ayton saying he just wants to get to his 2nd contract but it was a bit of a odd response. During the entire pre-draft process, I never really got the impression that he's a top 1% competitor and nothing he said really struck me as a guy that had that killer instinct or the will the dominate and so far he hasn't really changed my mind. It's clear he's facing against real men in this league while he was straight dominating against boys in college. A lot of people discounted Luka's experience at the Euroleague level and having played against grown men since he was a teenager but Ayton's play so far has shown that the level of competition between grown men and teenagers is not a non-factor. Luka for all his supposed slowness, lack of explosion and inability to create space has been competent on the floor and while facing far fewer physical mismatches as Ayton has still found ways through his BBIQ and experience to exploit weaknesses in defenses. For a guy who wasn't suppose to be able to score at a high level and had a subpar 3PT shooting clip in Europe is now averaging almost 20/6/4 while shooting .458fg% and .400 from the 3 on almost 7 attempts a game and above league average efficiency. What's clear is that he has some positional versatility so he could play the 1, 3, 4 and possibly even 5 in spot minutes because of his IQ which makes it easier to integrate him into the needs of the offense. Ayton is strictly a C which makes things a bit more difficult because he can only play that position.

For someone of Ayton's size, strength, quickness and athletic ability he should be dominating all but the very few savvy defenders and legitimate behemoths but domination just doesn't seem to be a character that Ayton seem to possess, at least on a nightly level. He's still giving us a 17/10 on good big man efficiency and regardless of what we've seen in the past couple of games is still one of our best offensive threats. We need to plan around Ayton better and find better opportunities for him. I don't think that's possible without a PG. When we don't have that high level PG, teams have an easier time to clamp down on Point Book especially when our shooters aren't shooting well. If we had a high level PG who can run PnR's, Ayton becomes much more of a threat because Booker is so so dangerous off-ball.

Not very good DFG% at the rim but also the blocks...I didn't think Bagley would have more than double the blocks at the rim, Carter triple, and Bamba more than triple. Also, as you can see he has way more attempts at the rim against him than the others. He has more minutes than most, but it way ahead in people taking it to him.

You would think with so many more attempts at the rim against him, he wouldn't only be at fractions of the blocks of the others.

I think Ayton will be an all star center sooner or later. No question about it. I also see the bad with the good, but I'm just happy to have an all star center on the Suns. Averages of 18/10/3.5 assists on this team as a 19 year old rookie are awsome, especially as a C.

My question is: would he be better if he was drafted by another team? How much of Lukas sucess is becouse of his team and organization is overall better? Becouse as of now he seems to be running away with the ROY trophy which I would really wanted Ayton to get... :(
