Incident with Cubs fan

Post#1 » by Nowak008 » Sun Aug 12, 2007 5:30 am

Thought I would share an incident with a Cubs fan I had.

I work at a Bank and a guy decked out in cubs gear comes into my branch. I tell him nice scrubs shirt. He asks me if I meant cubs. I tell him no I meant scrubs. He then gets really mad and starts getting all pissy. Cubs are great, this and that. My Boss (a fellow Brewers fan) is just laughing in this guys face. Guy finishes his transaction and says you won't think its so funny if I go to another bank, and leaves.

My Boss then turns to me."Nice. Less Cubs fans the better."

In conclusion. Cubs suck.

I'd also like to have a hearty LOL at the guy by threatening to go to another bank.

Big friggin' deal.

Just won 2 in a row on the road where we usually blow. I'd say we're playing better, and things are actually starting to look up.

My dad once took me to a Scrubs-Brewers game at County Stadium. During that game, a Scrubs fan got so drunk he barfed all over me. He also told me to go **** myself. I didn't even do anything. Shows you how stupid (and drunk) Scrub fans really are. However, White Sox fans are much worse.

But you know, it wasn't always like this. My grandma grew up in Chicago. She said that back in the 1960's Scrub fans actually had class and that Wrigley Field was a family ballpark. Scrub fans called their team the Cubs, never the Cubbies.

You didn't do anything? If anyone pukes on me, Scrubs fan, Brewers fan, anyone, I wouldn't just take it. :noway:

Okay, I was saying the Scrubs sucked. He looked like he was about to sock me, but after barfing on me, he said "go **** yourself". It seemed like he barfed on me on purpose though.

My dad called security, but I was more shocked than pissed. Yes, I was would've loved to kick him in the nuts, but he's 15 years older than me and I also might have been ejected so...

Just curious...

Why do you scoff at the threat to switch to another bank?

Banks don't just provide personal banking out of the kindness of their hearts. There is financial incentive for them to do so.

I'm just saying it's a little ridiculous for the guy to leave a bank because of what happened. But if he wants to do that more power to him I guess.

Everything is always money related with you Dan, jeez.

Ah, I see.

I thought it was possible that was what you meant, but it looked more like you meant something else.
I was unsure, hence the inquisitive nature of my post.

From the way you wrote what you did, I thought you were wondering why the bank would care if he switched to another bank.

I guess I just misunderstood you.
Oops.

Either way, a customer in that type of situation does not deserve to be insulted by a bank employee. I would personally consider that (what Nowak describes) to be unprofessional and inappropriate behavior.
Not a wise customer relations strategy.

Yes, why in the world would I bring up money when talking about a bank and its customers? ;)

Hmm looks like GAD is a secret Cubs fan. :x

That or he is older then Epi.

I said it laughing, and the guy was young so I thought he could take a joke. O well. SportsWorld will get over it.

GAD is right. I'm not even at all bothered by a Brewer fan hassling a Cub fan, thats fine and dandy. Part of the mantra that is sports.

I use to be a banker/loan officer/service specialist at North Community Bank, about two blocks from Wrigley, and we would get every fan from every opposing team come in.

Every Cub fan that worked in that bank had their words with opposing fans that happened to stroll in and use the ATM but never once did it result in a negative way. All fun and games.

One day a guy walks in with a Pittsburgh Pirates hat on. The old one, striped with the old logo. My VP gave him crap about it and said he was just trying to relive their glory days. He continued to bark about Clemente being the only player worth anything in their franchise and that they(Pirates) should just consider themselves a Cub minor league affil. (this was right after the ARAM trade). After an hour of baseball talk with several employees in the bank(during a game, when the bank is extremely slow) I thought I'd never see him again.

About a month later he comes in with his brother, dressed as business men are. They apply for a loan and we realize his father is the owner of Hi-Tops bar across the street from the field. The loan amount was for 60K, pretty small for a business loan, but it was for improvements. (which we later found out.. improvements=a bunch of new plasmas for the bar). The guys were so thrilled about the service and the repoir we had built up with them they insisted on their father transfering the business accounts with our bank.

About a year later the guys came back offered every VP and senior banker a trip to Pittsburgh to attend a game then hang out at Hi-Tops in Pitt. Obviously most of them agreed and later they find out thats where the Cub players hang out after the game.

Moral of the story: A bank is not a place to establish sour relationships.
