Welp its early but its looking like the Nets draft pick curse is working again. Whoever owes us a pick will somehow have a historic win season.

I’m not convinced Denver will be that good but it’s more than likely the pick will be in the high 20s.

It's 5 games in lol, let's pump the breaks a little something.

But yeah, so far they're handling business. A lot of experts and fans expected them to be good and the West will be tight after the first 2 or 3 teams separate themselves from the pack, so a 1 or 2 difference in the W/L column could effect the spot the pick lands by 2 to 5 spots.

If I'm guessing the following teams are still very likely to have better records than them:

GSW
HOU
TOR
BOS
MIL
At least 2 of the following: POR, UTH, PHI, IND, NOH

That leaves the pick at worst at 23rd. Sure we were hoping for like 17 to 20, but 21 to 24 was always the more likely scenario.

But things can change. Injuries happen. Trades happen. Momentum swings. Math catches up. Hell that pick could wind up 28th overall, or it could wind up 14th. Denver's defense doesn't match up to plus side long term longevity right now for instance. They're giving up a ridiculous amount of corner 3's and a lot of paint shots, but teams are shooting it at an extremely poor clip from those areas as of now, 5 games in.

Give it a 20 game sample size and if they're still allowing all that penetration for drive and kick to the corners and not kicking, so shots close to the rim and when those wide open 3's from the historically easiest spot on the court to hit them start dropping, even at a league average rate(which won't happen, it will be above league average in all likelihood to bring up the entire sample size to spec), all of a sudden they're an actual bad defensive team and they're getting beat in close games and getting torched on the road again.

They're still young, exciting, fast, mainly modern and can shoot, so to me they're a really nice playoff squad on the rise, as is, but I'd bet more like a 6 or 7 seed when it's all said and done, along with 4 or 5 teams ahead of them record wise in the East. Right in that 18 to 22 pick range.

It's finally year zero so embracing the tank could be a great way to add more talent to our core.

Levert + Fro are here on rookie deals for another 2 years so they are great pieces to have. Good value.

Both have talent but still have much room for growth. Levert took a significant step forward this season but he needs consistency.

I like Russ, Din and RHJ but I feel like we need to pick one only to give an extension and the others got to go. Difficult choice.

We need talent across the board. We have a team full of good young players + good role players but no stars. We need to strike gold.

Ship out all 3 if possible, though I'd definitely be cool with RHJ here on a reasonable deal.

Also, top 4 picks are now lottery, not top 3.

Seeing the amount of young small forwards blossoming making me thirsty for one. Please just tank this year out

I'm convinced its in the Nets best interest to draft either a primary ball handler or a small forward that can create offense

Man, that's some Giannis-esque athleticism for a guy his size. Incredibly smooth.

He has his father's physical attributes but he is way more skilled. He looks like a player who developed on the ball skills before he hit his growth spurt.

I've never seen a full game with him. Only highlights. However, if he is fast enough to play the 3 this guy is a star.

Nugs 9-1 start after 10 games... smh.

Was hoping for a pick in the late teens but now looks like low 20s best case scenario..

The only good news is Marks and co. have proven to be good at drafting so there's hope to find someone good still with DEN pick.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
