As far as peanut signings go, I was a very big fan of Jeff Wilson's. There's things I like about Matt Dayes...or did when he was in school and coming into the NFL. He's in his 3rd year.

That's their PS options since they'll need a body now with Mostert now going to be out a while.

In October they worked out Jeremy McNichols (who was since on the Colts active roster for 4 days before being cut), Shane Vereen, Charcandrick West, and Andre Ellington. They chose to sign Dayes over those guys at the time.

Except a ton of them are going to go to the other team. He makes it very easy for them to get a jump on it. And sometimes so far they haven't even needed the extra second.

Not enough velocity in Mullen’s passes?

So a new Shaun Hill?

Re: Mostert, we're going to feel that loss acutely on punt coverage. Even with him, we've been pretty shaky covering kicks, and he's clearly our best player on that unit. There have been more than a few plays where, if he didn't make the tackle, the return man would have gone for 20+ easily.

And man, are the Raiders bad. I'm not sure we win another game, but we were WAY out of their league. That was embarrassing.

I missed a lot of the game, but from what I saw, I think Mullens deserves another shot. He had some easy throws, and got lucky wiht some defensive drops, but it's not like Beathard was lighting the world on fire. I'm curious to see if Mullens can keep it up. He played one great preseason game, and then completely fell apart the next week.

This. Mullens seems better at sensing pressure better than Beathard and gets rid of the ball faster. I thought Mullens outplayed Beathard in the preseason games where the same issues plagued Beathard. Raiders players gave up where the 49er players played hard all night.

Every couple of weeks a good topic will come up in sports that helps make crystal clear which former players make for good analysts and should or shouldn't continue talking about it on TV or the radio.

This Nick Mullens stuff is starting to become one of those topics for me while listening to T.J. Houshmandzadeh while I work. He's a firm IN on Mullens and was glowing talking about him and the night he had last night. There will be others but he's one of the first I've heard in the last 16 hours.

I try like heck to keep everything I hear and read in context and realize how easy it is for these guys to get carried away because of what sells now a days but those things don't make you a great analyst or someone that SHOULD talk about it on TV despite what some producers and what not want to see.

It's topics like these why we have so much generic and bad TV/radio/print out there IMO. It's also part of the reason why so many former players can't do good jobs when they get into the scouting/general managing game.

Because of the around the clock sports coverage in this era, they need stuff like this to talk about.

Not saying you are wrong but I am curious what the sports world was saying after Kurt Warner's first couple starts
