Unfortunately Bol Bol looks like he’ll have huge bust potential.

Perhaps the next Hasheem Thabeet.

There is a lot that worries me about Bol. Main things being his low energy presence and body language..

Say what you will about Bol Bol, but with his shot blocking and three-point shooting ability he's sure to have a high BPM next year.

This is what I was thinking . . . sounds like one of the two probably goes that route. I'm not well informed, but Bol looks more likely to bust to my uneducated eye.

The kid is 18, hasn't even played a college game, and hasn't been seen since when, the Jordan classic two month ago? I don't believe anyone is has a solid opinion about the kid, there is just too many questions that you can't answer until he plays some college games vs a little better competition.

There isn't a pretty big difference offensively between the two, even after three years of college Thabeet hadn't developed on bit on the offensive end.

After watching film on Bol Bol, i'm surprised how good his coordination and balance look for somebody his height. His coordination looks alot better than his dad or a guy like Gheorghe Mureșan. He seems to run well and not just lumber down the court like alot of guys with his genetic condition.

I don't know if he has the vertical the Bamba has, but i think he could just be as good of a defensive player that Bamba was in college.

I also like Bol Bol's shooting mechanics, his stroke now looks alot better then Bamba. Defensively i think he can be a good as Bamba .Offensively if he can shoot +30% from three, he could be better than Bamba.

Way too early to tell with him. 30 years ago, sure. Anybody with his size and moderate athleticism could make the league. In todays game, he might be too slow to play. He's so young that its kind of silly to set anything in stone yet.

He’s probably more of a natural than Bamba and has similarly freakish measurements.

His shot seems unbelievably good for his size.

Bol Bol

Anyone see this kid's Oregon highlights? What a monster! This kid could go #1. Why was everyone saying he was just tall & nothing more? He's a beast! Vicious dunks, turnaround threes, great fluidity & touch.

2019 draft imo is more intriguing than 2018, at least 1-5/6.

I don't think anyone was saying that about him as he could clearly shoot well too. The problems are more with his effort level (his transition defense was so bad that at times he wasn't even starting for his high school team) and extremely skinny frame (most NBA bigs will be able to nullify his shotblocking by either spacing the floor or simply overpowering him, and he's not the kind of interior presence on offense who will punish teams for going small).

Nobody is set in stone as a #1 pick, but I wouldn't get overly excited about what a 7'3" guy does against a D2 school whose tallest guy was probably 6'7". He had just 2 blocks in the game (one of which was kind of a cheap one where he came over and blocked a little guard who had to shoot a jumper to try to beat the first half buzzer) and this was his coach's review of the performance:

"He's got to play a lot harder. He's got to improve his positioning, talk defensively but he is talented. He is skilled," Altman said of Bol. "We said from the start he's a unique player, unique talent. There's a lot more there. He coasts a lot. But he's getting better. He's working at it. He's going to be a work in progress all year but there's a lot more that he can do."

Yeah, I didn't see anything that really changed my opinion on him, not that you would draw many conclusions from a game like that either way. His strength's are really unique and dynamic, but he's got some fatal flaws at this stage also. He's almost like a rich mans Thon Maker in that regard, I think. The effort level stuff at least has a chance to improve, though hoping for guys like that to change is often a weak bet, but the frame stuff is stuff he can't really change.

He's talented, but is he a guy you could build around? I think he's a high level backup on a lot of NBA teams, and maybe a bottom 1/3 level starter elsewhere. If he can minimize his deficiencies and put in lineups that compliment him, he could be really effective, but I would not rely on him as a building block with what we've seen so far.

Obviously potential is there and he has a lot that he can prove with a good college season, but I haven't seen anything to suggest improvement in those areas yet.

He is extremely talented and skilled for a big but his frame, mobility, and strength bother me. I partly feels he's Porzingis like but his form is ugly and he isn't that quick. But he got nice handles, athletic in the air and has speed moving in a straight line. Not to mention he has really good body control.

He is my Trae Young of this class. Boom or bust. Like Trae, his situation, work ethic, and development will dictate his path.

I feel like he's going to be an injury waiting to happen in the NBA.

That's probably my biggest trepidation about him. There's some Porzingis-level skill there but I just wouldn't be able to justify a lottery pick on him to be honest.

It's a bit bizarre why he doesn't get more hype.

Seems like a better prospect than Mo Bamba.

The "concerns about his motor" and "needs to add strength" seem to get thrown around a lot among big men prospects lately. Complaining about a highschool kids motor especially seems really silly, let the kid play a season of college ball first. I hope he can show his worth as a mid lottery talent and Boston grab either him or Bassey.

Two completely different prospects. Not sure why this is even a comparison?
