Might be a good idea to start resting him in back to backs.

It might also force certain underperforming players to start playing better.

He's fine... He only played 33 minutes in this game...

Even today he was visibly less active in the second half.

What is important is that he stays healthy and that he is still fresh in April. Whether he skips a game from time to time is a non issue if it helps him achieve these things.

If he skips games we lose atm. Saric is playing like ass, Simmons has regressed, and Fultz is still learning the in's and outs of the NBA. The team plays at a lottery level without him. Too early to think about resting. Maybe think about it in December/January. He's averaging 34.4 minutes per game. I doubt it ever goes over 35 minutes per game. He also has 2 years off, so his body although initially fragile, needs to begin to deal with the rigors of the NBA. He needs to play 70 games so other FAs know that if they sign here as a FA, the star player is actually going to be playing. Embiid is also someone who gets out of rhythm and loses conditioning pretty quickly too.

If anyone needs to be rested it's Saric. 5 games of rest will allow Chandler to reintegrate into the team, and Saric to get his legs back.

It's freaking basketball. Nothing personal. I don't think that it's ever personal, Embiid and Andre seem chummy together off the court. Joel is sorta coming off as a bully towards Drummond, but so what, he should keep his mouth shut lol. You want your big man to play with some edge and some nastiness. Embiid is a bad man.

The Sixers patience paid off, he's the big man everyone was waiting on to take the torch from Shaq and Duncan.

Where Kobblehead at? Can we put this to bed? If you look at the post through Instragram, Simmons says "My Brother" and Embiid says "Love you bro"... Nuff said....

Now go get a jumper Ben!

Where is Embiid right now?

There seems to be a pretty good consensus about the top 3 (alphabetical order):
Curry
Durant
LeBron

Of course, there's never a consensus so I'm sure there'll be strong disagreement about that. But does Embiid crack the top 5? I think I have the top 5 contenders listed below, and it also rounds out my top 10. I'd probably have Kawhi and Davis in the top 5, with Giannis close behind. Embiid probably at #7.

Giannis
Harden
Westbrook
A. Davis
Kawhi
Lillard
Embiid

I'm glad they're going out of their way to pour water on smoke. And hopefully they internally dealt with whatever dynamics lead to the smoke in the first place.

Lillard doesn't belong in that group. Replace with Oladipo.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Embiid won’t get the mvp this season. Heck. He may not even be first team all nba. Players have to pay their dues in the nba. Unless sixers can win 55 plus games. Embiid won’t get much consideration.

Anthony Davis is next man up for mvp. If he wills pelicans to 50 wins. He will get it.

Same with giannis. If giannis can get bucks to 55 wins and average 25/14/6. He will get it before embiid.

Embiid could average 30/15/4/2 and still not get the award.

Curry is probably the front runner right now though.

What impresses me about Joel is his IQ.

If you watch the Pistons game, he did his antics early. It didnt just get into Drum’s head but it forced the refs to call the game tight.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

I would say that he is at least 5-6.

I think it would be hard to put him above Giannis, Davis or Harden today, but by the end of the year he could be ahead of all 3 of them. He may technically be as good or better than those guys today, but he needs to prove it on the court, and then means it takes time. Trust the process.

Embiid's numbers right now are MVP worthy and really havent been seen by a center since Hakeem/Shaq. They are also not the result of unsustainable shooting like for a lot of the guards. In fact his numbers per36 are not that different from his rookie season. He just plays more now. The only question right now is whether he can sustain this kind of effort throughout the year since unlike most of the other MVP candidates he plays both sides of the floor.

last season there was worry about him ever getting healthy. he sure looks healthy now. he's played brilliantly any number of times. if i was Brett, i would scheme every which way to set him loose on the league. Sam schemed to find a star and he grabbed us a good one.

Hinkie just got lucky. Let's be real here. If he had to choose between healthy Parker/Wiggins or hurt Embiid and sixers had the 2nd pick, he would have done the same thing the Bucks did. He would have picked the the left over of parker and wiggins.

It was really a 3 man 2014 NBA draft. The difference between Embiid/Wiggins/Parker and the tier 2 prospects was so huge.

Embiid is playing great, but I'd like to see the sixers rest Embiid a few games here or there especially back to backs on the road. Even a young usually horse like Giannis playing a ton of minutes wore down last season. It happens to many bigs. Gotta save the miles on these guys.

Whatever. After watching that workout he did for the Cavs, was there any doubt, except health? Sam really stuck by the kid, through the loss of his brother and that hatchet press job that made him feel lke quitting and mainly helping him bite the bullet for that second, Frankenstein operation. And he left us with a serious franchise star.

After that monster performance, I wonder how much left he has in the tank for the Memphis game. Why are back-to-backs still a thing?
