With these funny off day PPVs, I never have time to really post much on the weekend, just too busy. Though I was able to get through most of the PPV, I think I'm half way done with the main event of Crown Jewel but whatever, I'll give my thoughts on it.
So I decided to watch this PPV because of the fans. They're seem to love this sport like I do, trying to watch from a fan standpoint and not a realist/elitist type. You all know that I just try to enjoy the show for what it's worth, giving any and all BS a chance to showcase itself. Of course there was some BS during this event, it wouldn't be a WWE Pay Per View if there wasn't BS.
So evidently, there was a preshow match between Shinsuke and Rusev for the US title that I'm gonna have to go back and watch. Sounds like it might have been decent, got 10 minutes, which isn't really long enough, especially for a Shin match.
I'm glad Rey beat Orton but I also liked the little temper tantrum Randy threw after the match. Randy was the favorite to win the match and Rey got him on a roll up victory. One of the few times I'm okay with a roll up victory.
The Miz v Jeff Hardy I liked. Might be a little biased towards both of these guys as they're two of my favorites but I thought it was great to have The Miz finally win a match with a single Skull Crushing Finale...because lately it just seems more like a signature move instead of a finishing move.
From here, my memory might get a little bit fuzzy as I was drinking a wee bit and it was late at night and I was tired.
Seth Rollins beating Lashley...clean. Wow. I was shocked. They're trying to push Lashley as this unstoppable monster but he's lost matches to Finn and Seth. Odd booking here. I definitely felt this was a tournament Lashley would have won because (even though we all know this tournament doesn't mean sh*t at all) it would have greatly helped his heel character. They could have easily worked with this to get Lashley even more over as a heel with Lio Rush just being super obnoxious about it. Missed opportunity for the WWE here to freaking give the win to Shane...I'll get to that steaming pile of dook later.
Dolph v Kurt wasn't too bad from what I remember. Seems like Kurt still has a little bit left in the tank, just as long as it isn't too long of a match. I felt he could of gone a few more minutes too but I was okay with the finish. I believe Drew caused a small distraction? Maybe I'm just imagining that.
The Bar v The New Day was....eh. I expected more from this match between these two teams. They've had other matches where it could of been argued as the match of the night on the entire card. I feel like with the addition of Big Show, he just doesn't fit with The Bar. Maybe this feud isn't over though...maybe this is how The New Day recruits those two NXTers that someone had mentioned was a rumor that they'd be adding to the group? I dunno. Also, I've never been sold on the Knock-Out Punch. I think it's a pretty ass finisher to be honest. But I guess with Cole screaming, HE DIDN'T GET ALL OF THE KNOCK OUT PUNCH BUT SHEAMUS FINISHED WITH DWHFIUHFDKJFHDKJFSD yeah...pretty underwhelming in my opinion.
The Miz v Rey was good. I liked the story it was telling with Rey really selling the injuries from Orton, which in turn ended up costing him the match. Rey definitely looks like he's still got quite a bit left in the tank to be a decent mid carder, I don't want to his him in the main event picture though. I think a Shin v Rey feud would be fun. Glad The Miz won this match, I was excited to see him in the finals..............
Dolph v Seth is always going to be decent. These two have good chemistry together in the ring. I think this is where I was fading a little bit...or rather pretty hard. But I think Drew also cost Seth this match too? Maybe Dolph did win clean...huh. I honestly can't remember, lol. My bad Dolph and Seth. I know you both are reading this review...
AJ v Joe was decent. We know they can do better than that but they only had about 11 minutes to squeeze in...plus we all know PPVs like this are glorified house shows. So yes, the match was good, yes it could have been better, yes it was a filler match since DB refused, blah blah blah, let's beat that dead horse to a pulp!
Brock v Braun...now I read in here someone saying that this match made Braun look weak because he only got hit with the belt...which according to wrestling logic, getting hit with a belt is about the same as getting blasted with a steel chair or a sledgehammer. It's a big blow...wrestling logic wise. But I don't think it made Braun look weak, he got hit with the belt and then instantly got hit with Brock's finisher, which according to wrestling logic, is pretty big. So that alone would take most people out but not the Monster Among Men...it took five total F5s to keep Braun down. That's like 5 Stone Cold Stunners, 5 Rock Bottoms, 5 Pedigrees, 5 AAs, 5 Styles Clashes, 5 Tombstones...all of those finishers are huge and it usually only needs 1 maybe 2 to get the job done. I'm okay with the way this ended...but shoot hopefully they don't keep the title on Brock for another year.
Dolph v
The Miz Shane O' Mac oh man here's that steaming pile of dook I was talking about earlier. The way they had The Miz get "injured" was laughable. Mick f*cking Foley gets TOSSED OFF OF A DAMN CAGE TWICE IN ONE MATCH AND STILL HAS TO COMPETE AND FINISH THE MATCH BUT THE MIZ ROLLS A F*CKING ANKLE OR SOMETHING STUPID GOD DAMN YOU VINCE YOU SON OF A B*TCH MICK FOLEY IS ROLLING IN HIS NON-EXISTENT GRAVE RIGHT NOW OMGWEIHFUEOIEJFKEFWR)W(RIOGFNIWHFNW(@(IR#FNDSSDFJSDFEUJFWIIEJF
I didn't really watch the entire match of DX v BoD but it seemed okay I think? I dunno, I guess I'll have to finish the match but I might not because I'll forget and then end up not caring and I'm already not caring even as I type this...
Yeah so all in all, an okay PPV, a glorified house show for the wonderful fans of an absolute sh*t government but you can't fault the people. It seems as if they left happy getting to watch some of their favorite wrestlers past and present, wrestle again.
Kobe Bryant was asked who he feels is the toughest opponent to guard in the NBA. Instead of picking OKC's Kevin Durant, Bryant went with Portland’s Brandon Roy.
"Roy 365 days, seven days a week. Roy has no weaknesses in his game."
