We've got two seasons to slow roll into a playoff threat. It's not like Charlotte is going to give GSW a run for the title anytime soon anyway. I'm as pro-Process as anybody but our GM is old and not gonna do that and our owner is too impatient. Just make incremental improvements and see what happens. Who knows? Maybe we finally have a GM that can actually get talent out of the draft.

A perfectly fine thought process to have, but "the process" still starts by emptying your cap sheet so that you can absorb other teams bad contracts for draft assets.

Yeah, the process stuff was more hypothetical. I can’t see MJ signing off on a full teardown rebuild anytime soon. I honestly think a part of him died during that 7-win season. Whether or not fans agree, I would imagine MJ is fully content building a team that’s consistently in the playoffs, even if they never reach contender status (I think he would be elated with a playoff run similar to the one Atlanta just had)

Sixers will remain empty-handed. I mean, the Warriors drafted a legendary player who with his historic range changed the game. His team is a dynasty. It's not about stripping down and trying to replicate that.

When MJ had a dynasty, plenty of upper echelon teams stayed together and kept trying to beat the Bulls. Players didn't try to form superteams. So many Hall of famers never won anything in that era: Patrick Ewing, Dominique Wilkins, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Reggie Miller. GM's never dumped those guys for draft picks.

It's about accepting you can't beat a dynasty enjoying your team, and keep trying with your team. The fans enjoy Kemba Walker just as those above teams loved to go to games to see their star player.

It's about doing your best with what you have and it's about entertainment. It's not about starting all over because you give up and you think you can draft a dynasty. Sixers were wrong.

What is the price we are willing to pay if Brad Beal becomes available? As the core pieces, I think I would offer Monk and our first unprotected this year.

Porter is who the Wizards are most likely to trade, and I imagine the Wolves will be interested. But the Wizards would be crazy to add Butler to that locker room. Enter Mitch Kupchak and the Hornets?

Porter has neutral to negative value though. It's hard for me to imagine the wizards giving up Beal without getting some true value back, and Porter for Butler just makes zero sense to me from the wolves side. I don't think we should be willing to offer what it would likely take to get Butler (Monk or Bridges and a first).

I think the Wolves would prefer to get a wing that makes less money than Porter, but he's the type of player they should be interested in. They need an unselfish wing that can defend and hit shots, i.e. someone like Porter.

Another player I think they'd be interested in is Barnes, so we could come in as the the third team as well there. Most importantly I don't think we'd have to get up Bridges or Monk to get Butler. That's what Minnesota wants but so far no team has offered them a deal that good. They're going to settle on getting a decent younger wing back coupled with some salary relief or a pick.

Monk is gonna be every bit the shooter and scorer as Beal. Plus he's going to put up better assist numbers. He's a better long term fit for our pace and our team play.

Agreed. Monk just needs to fill out a tad bit more.

I love Monk and offensively he's just electric. His fit beside Kemba just worries me a little. I'm all for keeping him though unless it's for a great player which I think Beal could be

C'mon, Tony Parker plays beside Kemba and Monk has more length. Kemba and Tony play effectively together, without peeking at the numbers. Monk needs to fill out for sure, but that's all.

Monk's game is erractic, like Lance. It works to get him open, but not necessarily would do anything for Kemba since he isn't a cutter and creates for himself. Tony is much more controlled and able to keep good spacing for Kemba to work.

I’m bullish on Monk. I like what I’ve seen on the court from him this year so far. I also like the idea that the team has several more years of him in the event that Kemba leaves. Long term fit if Kemba stays I’m a bit less sure of, but that’s a problem for the future not now.

Anyway because of that the only way I would really feel comfortable trading Monk was if the return was something that offered the team both long term certainty and a strong return on the court this year.

With that in mind I wouldn’t include Monk in a trade for an expiring like Butler … but I would probably be OK with it if trading for someone like Blake Griffin, who is locked up for a while.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Porter was complaining about a lack of touches, so I'm not sure how unselfish he is

Price of Monk keeps going up in my opinion. I think we can do better than Butler (expiring contract) and Beal at this point. Rather than a Butler expiring we should target a Tobias Harris expiring. We solve PF and see more Bridges at 3 and 4 before we decide to sign Tobias Harris. I'd do MKG plus a couple 2nd rounders. Send Frank there as well.

Kemba
Lamb
Batum
T. Harris
Zeller

Parker
Monk
Bridges
Marvin
Hernangomez

Then we let Lamb walk and retain Tobias.

Parker can play next to Kemba because Parker is smart and has a high BBIQ.

For you maybe but for Sean and many others, I've heard fears of Kemba - Monk being an undersized backcourt. That shouldn't be a concern. If anyone is concerned with Monk's BBIQ that has little to do with where he appears on the court and more to do with if he appears on the team at all. Monk has excellent court vision for a 2 guard and he makes the right pass. He sees the game just fine. His shot selection can be learned and improved. It has little to do with BBIQ. IQ can't be learned. You can't teach Monk's knack for seeing plays develop and anticipating where the traffic flows. Then making a nifty pass. All those things should and will happen beside Kemba. Just saying.

The only Bridges for Butler Trade I’m comfortable with is Bridges/Biz/Marvin for Butler and Gibson. Minny would never do it though
