This Alex Smith trade, just awful, a 3rd round pick and Fuller for that turd is a true grunfeldian blunder.

BA and EG both suck, I 100% agree. I think this is what Alex Smith looked like his 1st year in KC, while learning a new offense. I think he'll get better, but he isnt throwing picks and the game away, which is nice. He def isnt exciting and has under-performed.

Check this nugget out on the Chiefs ESPN:
Need more from: CB Kendall Fuller. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Fuller is allowing 9 yards per target when he is the nearest defender, 10th most among cornerbacks who have been targeted at least 30 times. The Chiefs will need his contributions as they are being attacked deep. Opponents have a 9.5 air yards per target average against the Chiefs, the fourth-highest average in the NFL. -- Sopan Shah

And the trade of Fuller has given Moreau and Dunbar a chance to shine. Moreau's made some mental errors, but I think he has a chance to be a star. And they have a couple of rookie corners from VaTech that look like they can contribute.

Speaking of CB's, NYG traded former 1st rounder Eli Apple today to New Orleans for a 4th rounder. I always thought he was more athlete than football player, and he was one of those guys who talked too much. Addition by subtraction imo for NYG. Washington obviously cannot take this game for granted. The last 2 wins could have gone either way. Now it's time to step up the offense.

Skins trade a 4th rounder for Haha Clinton-Dix - yes, a name made for DC politics. He's yet another big-name defender from Alabama - 2014 1st rounder and will almost certainly start ahead of Nicholson. He's more likely than not a rental player, because he'll be a high-priced free agent next offseason. I still think Nicholson figures strongly in the Skins' plans after this season. But HHCD is a very reliable center-fielder that probably complements Swearinger better. And he's very motivated - playing for a contract.

It’s amazing, but the ‘slurs seem to be making some pretty prudent decisions. I like stockpiling compensatory picks to give us powder to make deals like this.

Who’s calling the shots? Is it Doug Williams? If so, I underrated him.

I found this from a guy who used to post here. Interesting post from a guy who I felt knew his college football. Or maybe he just knew it better then me. Lol :D

______________
From Stevemcqueen1(found on a redskins fan website)

"I'm kind of coming to a similar place on Josh Allen that I did with DaRon Payne last year. I didn't love him from his cut ups at first, but the more I see of him, the more I like him. It's hard to describe the nature of his impact until you see it with your own eyes. Payne was kind of an opposite situation--his off the charts physical talent was right there in your face but his stat production was unimpressive. But the intangibles are similar. Being the leader and the soul of a truly badass defense. They both share that. And they were/are both such obvious fits for us in particular.

It was like a month or maybe two before the draft last April when I came to the conclusion that Payne was going to be our pick if he was there and I made a couple of posts predicting that he was going to be our guy. And I made some posts with gifs to demonstrate his talent against the arguments of people who were skeptical about him. I ended up being right, and the reason I felt so sure that we would pick Payne is because he demonstrated the perfect intersection of talent + fit for us. His skill set matched exactly what we were looking for in a one technique. That is the kind of feeling I'm getting with Josh Allen. I think he's going to be near the top of our draft board.

So then the questions become:

- Will he still be there when we pick? If we in this thread can see how good he is, you can be pretty sure that NFL people can see it too. (not always though)
- Will he make it through the season and predraft process healthy and with no off the field stumbles?
- Will there be someone else who is even more talented or who is an even better fit for us available at our pick?

Just to name a few names, if one or more of Greedy Williams, Jonah Williams, Tevon Coney, Dalton Risner are sitting there when we pick, then it becomes a really tough call.

And the more we win, the less likely it becomes we'll have a shot at any of these players. Although people do seem to be sleeping on Coney and Risner for some reason."

The more I hear Doug Williams speak, the more I think - This guy is smarter than I thought. And I think he knows how to use the image of what people have of him to his advantage. If he's dealing with a GM that thinks he's just an ex-jock who got his job because the owner was a fan of his, that gives him an advantage, because that GM is thinking he can take advantage of him - when it's really the other way around.

Might have to pull an RG3 move for Tua when he becomes available. Getting out from under the Norman contract and Smith contract, as well as having another two free agency periods and drafts in the books should put the team in a position to sacrifice some first rounders for a stud QB on a rookie deal

Dwayne Haskins for me.

Less ammo to move up for him.

That was fun while it lasted.

I don't see us recovering from this. Even when Trent gets back, the line is marginal without Scherff and Lauvao and Richardson has been our best receiver (which isn't saying much).

What a difference a week makes. Sigh.

Well we lost.

Despite Colt's turnovers, I still prefer him over Alex Smith.

And that last helmet hit on Reed was as bad a non-call as there's been this season. Still, this team needs DBs in the worst way. Plus a WR that can stretch the defense (not named Paul Richardson).

The Philly game next week is a must-win, otherwise the season is over IMO.

Colt did seem to take more shots. He was also working on zero practice snaps due to the short week. Curious to see what he does with a full week of practice against a faltering Eagles team.

I think the remaining Philly games will determine the Play-offs in the NFC East.
There are basically 3 scenarios:
Least likely - Philly runs the table and gets the NFC East championship. I don't see them beating the Rams AND the Texans even if they sweep Washington and get a game against Dallas.

Possible - Philly games help Washington a lot - if the Skins win both games against the Eagles and beat the Cowboys, that means the Skins would need 2 of 3 to get to 10-6 - which means a couple Cowboys losses get the Skins in the play-offs.

Probable - Eagles games help Cowboys. Even they drop the game to the Saints, they Cowboys beating the Eagles puts them on a path to win out their last 4. A split between the Eagles/Skins would catch the Cowboys up in the Standings with the Skins.

Colt McCoy stinks. That guy has a classic case of what we call "noodle arm."

Ok folks.

Latest rumor: The Cardinals will take Kyler Murray with the 1st overall pick.

If they do last year's first rounder Josh Rosen would be on the trading block.

The Skins are/would be very interested.
