Re: Official Caris LeVert Thread
Please say it ain't so. LeVert is one of the best stories so far for our team this season.
Yall remember i was skeptical but after 10 games I have seen enough. this dude is legit and has lots of room to get even better.

So, I'm struggling to understand your lack of enthusiasm for LeVert based on this post and your "sell high" comment in that Nets poll in the GB.
This guy was a wing in college, and one who had a famously interrupted career, right? Well, if the Nets are encouraging him to master the 1-3 positions, wouldn't it be amazing if he DIDN'T have patches of tunnel vision? I mean, come on. And yet at the same time, out of all the people on the team, he's the one who'll probably hurt you the least when he does that. Meanwhile, he seems right in the middle of a significant development spurt. Isn't that supposed to be a good thing?
To me, LeVert has incredibly smooth and quick athletic prowess that you don't see very often even at the NBA level. A gifted, natural driver & finisher (and more, really), who due to circumstances hasn't even fully explored that.
I don't know. Maybe I'm missing some major holes in Caris' game, significant even for a young, developing player. Otherwise, the comments that I see you making about him seem pretty... "out there," to be polite.
if you just want to circle jerk and never comment on anything critical about nets players then maybe NetsDaily is a better board for you.
I've been consistent on levert this entire time. I defended him last year when people wanted him cut because of an awful 2 month stretch. now if i point out that he could be even better if he looked to distribute a bit more when he breaks down his man like he had been then im hating on the guy? Levert has been amazing. ive said as much but you've either ignored it or just dont read any of the other threads or game threads here.
I'd like to see levert be as good as he can be. if you watched the last 3 games there were several levert misses in traffic after beating his man where there was an easy allen dunk or dudley open 3 in the corner pass to make. You 100% live with that now because we want himt o keep being aggressive but if he balances that out he would be even tougher offensively.
Saying id sell high on levert if the right offer came is also not hating on levert. just because he is playing well doesnt make him an untouchable generational prospect like a ben simmons or giannis where you say no to any offer

Official Caris LeVert Thread
What if LeVert still has more room to grow? I don’t understand the logic of a 6’7 wing that can play PG, SG, SF is some common thing. LeVert is a unique prospect in his own way which makes him untouchable unless it’s for a superstar.
Prok and Kamaze would’ve dealt Curry before his last ankle procedure to sell high and would’ve included Klay Thompson in those Minnesota K-Love trade talks that Jerry West shot down...
Any deal that looks like a Carmelo, Deron or even more recent - Jimmy Butler trade is the exact example of why prospects like LeVert, Lavine stay untouchable. How’s that going for Minnesota? LaVine has 41 pts in a breakout season (29PPG) and Jimmy is sitting at home selecting when to show up for games.

Re: Official Caris LeVert Thread
LeVert clearly has room to improve. I think that jumper can be cleaned up. I think that he can work on this upcoming summer on his left hand. Continue to add strength. I think him using his attacking ability to create shots with others can and will improve. He is not a finished product by a mile, so I wouldn't be selling high unless that return is a godfather offer.
That being said, his consistency and scoring prowess is looking like a huge step forward for this team. There's a reason why Kenny looked like he was as giddy as a school girl in that pic from the last game. He knows.
This is why I have preached for years on here that capping people's potential is short sighted. I was skeptical of LeVert because preseason hype usually is a let down but it is clear that the Nets were telling the truth about what they were seeing. I don't think the ride ends here for LeVert.

I may have been a bit unfair to you, above. Apologies if so.
Sure, I'm down with critiquing players, but as for myself, I still feel like I'm trying to digest what I see in this young season. I'm pretty sure I don't see as much live video as most fans, so I'd say I'm behind on that as well. I'm not even in the area to see the team live, anymore.
In theory I don't disagree with the idea of selling high if a monster offer came along, but... we're also talking about (IIRC) Marks' most significant early move. I suspect there's some unstated additional value in being able to pony up a big purchase, then seeing how the staff you hired handles your prospect over the next few years. By keeping LeVert, grooming him, and evaluating that process, you're getting a lot of valuable feedback about lots of different things that can't be measured in return assets.
Just something to think about. Cheers.

Who the hell wanted to cut LeVert last year? I don't remember that and I was already part of this forum.
Most Nets fans agreed CL started last season slow but after that he was back to playing good bball.
All I remember is some random Lin fan saying crazy things about CL and other Nets players.
This is his first year as a go-to guy so there will be a learning curve... I agree there are times where I wish he would just make the easier pass instead of taking to the rim every time but can't fault him for being aggressive especially if he is a good finisher in the paint.
Why trade him now when he just continues to improve plus has 2 years left on rookie contract?
Unless we are talking Durant, AD, type players It seems like a short-sighted move at best.

you wouldnt deal levert for a top 5 pick?
of course he has room to go, he is 23. but lets not act like he is a Giannis level prospect

no worries... and i got back to my inital response to you on trading him where i said i dont want to trade him, i dont advocate looking to trade him or shopping him. but he should not be confused with an untouchable generational prospect. if someone offered the right deal, selling high wouldnt be the wrong move.

Has anyone in the world ever called LeVert a generational prospect? Or compared him to Simmons/Giannis? Or said he was 100% untouchable?
Super strange way to discredit LeVert. Its like jumping in the Jarrett Allen thread and talking about trading him because he's no Embiid or AD.

There are like 5 Giannis level players in the entire league. Of course you'd trade CL for that type of player.

yes, in fact this all stems from the GB post where someone said levert is untouchable and i said that you defintely sell high on him if the right offer is there.

False.
Calling someone a keeper is NOT the same as calling them a generational prospect or legitimately saying they're untouchable.
Allen is a keeper. Not someone were looking to trade. But it goes without saying if Golden State offers us Steph Curry, we take the deal. No one thinks he's a future MVP.

i agree. my point wasnt that he isnt a keeper. but that he isnt untouchable.
also, it doenst need to be curry. if someone offered us a unprotected lotto pick, you consider that

Yes.
Slam dunk, no brainer pick.
for every Tatum and Simmons there's an Okafor and a Russell.
Right now I'm not trading LeVert unless I know that we're landing some generational talent. I think we're past the stage of wondering if LeVert is going to be a starter level player in the league. His value has gone up.

well your odds of getting a generational talent increase the higher the pick is. our scouting/drafting has been top notch. id trust marks with a top 5-10 pick
