With a couple of days' rest, video, and practice, hopefully we're refreshed and refocused. It's an opportunity to get back on the right track, running back and communicating on D, and executing our movement, team-oriented O, and start November on the road on a positive note.

White, the Spurs' first-round pick in 2017, has been playing 3-on-3 and simulated 5-on-5 games with the club's G-League affiliate in order to get himself back into playing shape.

He will likely ease his way back into NBA action, building minutes game-by-game. White appeared in 17 games during a rookie season spent primarily in the G-League.

"His wind won't be great, maybe," Popovich said. "Basketball-wise, he's gotten some of the rust off. We'll see what he does tonight."

After a stellar training camp that ended prematurely, White is eager to make up for the opportunity his heel injury cost him.

"I'm just going to go in and do what I do," White said. "Not try to do anything outside myself."

Great news if White is back. I don't expect too much from him right away but if it lightens the load on Patty Mills we will be a better team. Mills is averaging 27.6 minutes a game soo far. We need to get that down to around 20ish.

I am concerned about Rudy Gay. They keep saying its not a big deal but if its still bothering him after 4 days off that is a red flag.

Sounds more like extra precaution. Good sign that Rudy thought he was ready to go.

But I've noticed that the Spurs are super stealth this season about releasing any info, too. Like nobody knew that Derrick was doing 3-on-3s and 5-on5s with the Austin Spurs until after the fact. And both Rudy and Pop kept things light yet close to the vest when asked about his heel last game. It looks as everyone is on the same page, has closed rank, and would rather everything be behind closed doors. No drama. People outside know what and when they need to.

It's a nice surprise to see Derrick back!

How good is this Derrick White kid, Spurs fans? I picked him up on my fantasy team on a whim last week, just to have someone in my IL slot. I thought he'd be out for 2 months. Now boom, out of nowhere he's suddenly the starting PG . . .

^I feel better about this than Davis or Jakob starting (no offense to either, but they're better for us off the bench). It just seems everyone is at a more familiar position. Hopefully the chemistry comes naturally.

Rudy off the bench was key for us last year, but we were short on O options so we had to spread the O around.

This is an interesting suggestion, and certainly an option for us, though I really like the problems LMA, DeMar, Rudy pose for opponents and the synergy that the bench unit already has. The main thing is we have the options this season.

White and Bryn look ok so far.
