That's the odd part. Apparently his performance thus far this year is to the level of where majority of this forum wants him traded. So he's clearly not playing over his head. By most accounts here he's underachieving and he's at 19.3. I think you might wanna increase your percentages.bstein14 wrote:I think its entirely possible he will average his highest PPG of his career, but its probably less than 1% chance he averages 20+ PPG. That really only happens if he attacks the offensive glass with a force, and gets a lot of great set ups from Reggie, Ish, and Blake. He's gotten better for sure in the post, but he still has a ways to go to be a 20 a night player. He's averaging 19.3 PPG right now but I think its likely he ends up at about 17.0 to 17.5 PPG on the season.

For him to take a backseat in scoring and choose to lead the team in passing and getting everyone else in a scoring rhythm is an Amazing Leadership Move. This will make him a true superstar that can dictate the whole team flow whether scoring or not.
If he can pull unselfish leadership moves like this against good teams too, this team is about to get waaay better like overnight. I might actually start watching again.
Well that speaks to my point. It's not like he would need to be more aggressive or become a better shooter or anything. If anything, him shooting LESS could lead to him scoring more. He hasn't had one explosive game that's skewing his per game averages. He's been consistently scoring 18-25 every game. If anything it's the two games of 8 and 10 points that's pulling his average below 20 than it is some crazy 30+ point games that's getting him close to 20. Goes to show how crazy it is to have a guy almost giving you 20 and 16 and people want Frank Kaminsky instead.bstein14 wrote:DetroitSho wrote:That's the odd part. I think his effort and energy has been good 90+% of the time this year, and its what has been up and down the past few seasons. The most frustrating things from Dre this year have been him shooting three pointers, and forcing bad post ups and or trying to dribble the ball into a crowd. Its the low bball IQ stuff that hurts and when a player is wasting offensive possessions like that it can be a real downer for the entire team. He's at his best when he's crashing the offensive glass, setting good screens and moving after the screen.... or in certain mismatches when he can get the ball in the low post. I know he is still relatively young and may not even be in his prime yet, or is just entering it, but its really a matter of him keeping a consistant effort and lowering the number of offensive possessions that are wasted by him shooting a three or forcing bad shots outside his range... if he improves in those areas I think most people will be pretty happy with him. 19 and 16 are great numbers, but his early season FG% was awful and is now slowly improving.

The problem is expectations. Andre has those stretches in games where he absolutely dominates on both sides of the ball. For some reason people think because he can do it in spurts means he should be able to do that for 48 minutes every night, against every opponent. That's just not realistic. It's like thinking Blake should go out there and score 50 a night.
The only thing I really have a problem with are when he's really trying to force the issue offensively when it's not going his way. But that's a pretty small thing when you consider he gives us 19 and 16 every damn night. Questioning that effort seems crazy when he's one of two guys on the roster who actually brings something to the table consistently.
