Solid deal for you guys as I think Saric and Covington are some pieces that fit with the current roster and they have great contracts that can be moved easily if need be. The only issue I see is that you need a new coach to get the most of the them and the rest of guys, as Thibs has shown he is NOT the answer. I know many thought or hoped the return would be better, but with all of Butler's antics it really tanked his value. Had he simply made his request privately, showed up and just balled, I really think the return would have been much better. At the very least I think the team morale has gone way up and there will be an initial uptick in the level of play of everyone.

Both are very good players. Wolves need to trade Gibson now if they can. We can't have those two fighting for the minutes.

Taj probably more likely to be bought out than traded.

With his play this season, you would essentially think as much.

Good dealing, if Jimmy Butler cleans up his act, you guys will think he is awesome; he was for us before all of this nonsense happened.

Guys...this is a pretty decent return...I have been watching a lot of Sixers over the last year (mainly coz they have some interesting talents)...so watched plenty of RoCo and Saric. RoCo's shooting can be streaky at times but on the whole, he is a good 3 point shooter, a good 3&D player which we have been looking for. I really like RoCo's perimeter defense. Saric was impressive in 2nd half of last season...he has had a slow start to this season so far but he was finally looking decent last 2 games..another good young talent. Both are good 3 point shooters, something we have been looking for.

Also both Saric and RoCo are on very friendly contracts right now.
Saric is signed up until 2020 (2.5M + 3.5M)
RoCo's contract is even better imo, he is signed up until 2021-22 on a $47M 4 year deal (10.5M + 11M + 12M + 13M)

We have a decent team right now....this team can be lot better if we were under a better coach.

You can really tell by this trade who understands basketball and watches it compared to the people who are only fans of one team and maybe know 15 players in the league. This is an absolute homerun trade for Min. We are a MUCH better team today than we were yesterday and are set up a ton better for the future. Never expected to do this well for butler. Awesome trade

What? Saric has played 172 games in the NBA already, including last night in Charlotte.

Did he hear about being traded to MIN, and is going to Europe to seek asylum?

Right are covington and saric going to pull a sabonis and oladipo? I really do not see it at all, certainly not under Thibs.

Those are two of the top 60 players in the league on incredibly team friendly deals. You hated Butler and now you hate the incredibly good trade we got for him. RoCo is first team All NBA defender.

I'm curious about the board dynamics. Were there 'Team Butler' and 'Team Kat' camps, before and after the trade?

RoCo was pretty good during 2nd half of last season imo...he had a poor playoff series against Celtics...so far this season, he was pretty crucial in 2-3 Sixers wins

Shouldn't be difficult to trade Taj if Wolves are willing to take on money next year

Suns weren't with Chandler since they are cap space team, so they bought him out

Wolves are capped out with RCov, Teague opting in, Wig, KAT, Dieng. But they should have flexibility under luxury tax to take on next year $

Give me RoCo and Saric over those three seven days a week and twice on Sundays.

I've been watching Philly religiously this year as I have RoCo and Simmons on my main fantasy team. RoCo has been sensational. He's almost leading the league in combined blocks and Steals. Saric got off to a crappy start, but has turned it around and playing very well again. You must not consider D at all if you think LaVine is outplaying them. LaVine is considered one of the worst defensive sieves in the league.

Here's a somewhat non-biased, objective perspective. Saric is a beast. You guys will be happy for years with him. Taj is starting to decline, so you needed a 4. Covington is an elite defender, but overpaid because he was shooting lights out before inking that extension. You had to take the hit there in order to get a young Saric for prime Butler. Philly has a slight edge, especially since you essentially traded Markkanen, LaVine and Dunn for Saric and Covington, but Butler wanted out. All in all, I think Thibs got a decent return. Butler doesn't have many more elite years in the tank and the last couple of the supermax will be overpays

Markkanen wasn't proven at all, LaVine was coming off a major injury and Dunn... more then half this board hated the pick/player it seemed.

You now have your PF of the future, and your 3&D guy.... and with Bayless(when he's back), you can move Teague now too.

I just want to make sure I understand you correctly. You would trade Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, and Kris Dunn for Robert Covington, Dario Saric, and a 2nd round pick?

covington is an amazing role player. He makes dumb plays sometimes but he will fit on this wolves roster. And his contract is not bad by any means.

Kind of, at first I was kind of in the middle, but after hearing of his back-stage antics (it got out of control, I can't wait until it gets fully leaked so we all can learn how bad it really got), along with him starting to throw games, it got out of control and I became pretty anti-Jimmy. Some people agree with Jimmy's perspective, but dislike how everything went down. More people were "Team KAT", which is expected given the trade, but I think everybody was ready for the trade to happen, even with our disagreements.

Is Dario going to regain his magic? I have watched a lot of Philadelphia this year and am really concerned about him, he looks pretty lost. Is part of that because there were too many cooks in the kitchen and he just couldn't get in rhythm?

Covington and Saric will be popular players in Minnesota. They are hard working guys who make sacrifices for the betterment of the team. Neither are stars, obviously, but are good quality players. Covington is a very good defender who can shoot the 3. Not going to put the ball on the floor much or attack the rim, makes dumb mistakes at times, and his shooting is inconsistent. He will have months where he is red hot from downtown, and then have a month where he is ice cold. That's what frustrated Sixers fans. But he plays hard every night, always brings it on D, and doesn't play scared.

Saric is a smart player. Crafty around the rim. Solid shooter, not a great one(though he's been bad this season). It will improve when he gets his legs under him. Willing defender, can hit from mid range. Is a great locker room guy, very good passer.

You'll enjoy watching them.

I struggle with people that think this is a direct comparison,

First, nobody new how players would increase or decline at the time of the trade.

Second, MIN traded for two years of Butler. MIN is trading ONE year of Butler.
