That would be apples to apples. This isn’t about fan loyalty.
What? Eddy Curry has been out of the league for 5 years.
The Bulls' Butler deal with Minnesota occurred a year ago
I’ll give this one last try.
You spend $20 grand on a car. You drive it around for a year, and it takes you to some wonderful places you haven’t been in a long time.
The next year you sell the car. Do you complain if the buyer won’t give you $20 grand for it?
When you compare Zach, Dunn and #7 directly to Covington, Saric, pick it means you don’t understand
1. That the values of players change over time, and we don’t know those perfect values ahead of time
2. Two years of Butler does not equal One year of Butler.

The right thing to do is clean house. Trade Taj, Tolliver, Tyus, Rose, Teauge ect... With this deal one that's aims seem to be to stick us in mediocrity I doubt we will do that right either. Winning a couple of games is more important than our future. Why can't we just do the right thing for once?

RoCo should be great for 6-8 years. Saric for more. We got excellent players of just the right age. This is a trade for now and the future.

And rose and teague as well. if the franchise goal is the nba finals or championship when kat is in his prime we need to tank and get zion, barrett or reddish! Otherwise we are just a threadmill team for kats entire career satic and covington don’t move the needle.

Hard to say, but for me personally I hate losing out on Lauri, I was one of like three guys who desperately wanted him seventh overall (of all my bad takes, I actually was right there. That said, both players a great fits on great contracts for Minnesota, and given Zach LaVine's redundancy with Andrew Wiggins (he is a high-octane scorer, but his same flaws are still there), I legitimately don't feel too bad about the deal. It got Minnesota to the Playoffs for one year (which really mattered), and got us two really solid players.
To answer the question, "kind of", the value hinges on Dario a ton. Keep in mind though, I am less of a Zach fan than most, even though I predicted him winning scoring titles.

Two top 60 players in the NBA. Both young on GREAT CONTRACTS. We did amazing.
Saric is a top 60 player in the league?![]()
I like your enthusiasm but I think you might be drinking the cool-aid a bit.
Sports Illustrated ranked Saric 54. Covington was 48.

Oh... you want to use hindsight. Gotcha!
Do I believe Teague/Rose, Wiggins, Covington, Saric/Gibson, Towns is better then Teague/Dunn, LaVine, Wiggins, Gibson, Markannen, yes I do. People complete forget there's only 1 basketball on the court and defense comes into play also.
LaVine is a scorer on a bad team... I'd be ok with him as a scoring 6th man, not so much as a starter.
You also need to calculate in not being on year 15 of no playoffs.
The ceiling of this team has just dropped with this Butler trade, a good .500 or a little above .500 team is in the future for this franchise now.
No, I want to use reality and facts.
Could you answer my question with a yes or no, please?
Yes.
I'll point you to the 45-50 million a year for Wiggins and LaVine being all offense and no defense being a major reason for Minnesota to being a worst team now and in the future.

Re: Jimmy Butler Traded to Philadelphia (Discussion Continued)
If the deals were:
Miami: Richardson, Waiters, FRP
HOU: Knight, Chris’s, 4 FRPs
Philly: Saric, Covington
They are all similar value. I do think Richardson is the best player in the group, so I would have taken that deal. This is alright though and we NEEDED to move Butler.

That's the biggest question for me now. Last season PHI was perfect pace and space team with shooters and Simmons as PG. Minnesota is nothing like this. I wish we play Rose 30 min every game but I am not sure if his body will hold up.twix2500 wrote:Saric is a nice role player next to KAT. Oh I get it, trust me. Jimmy Butler isn't a car and you didn't trade for him to get a year of his service. He's also in his prime so the car example is extremely poor. That trade was made with the hope to retain his services for the long-term. You don't give up multiple lottery picks (players) to play someone for a year. Or maybe you do, and that's why you're the Timberwolves *shrug*. I genuinely feel bad for ya'll, Jimmy Butler is a Grade-A piece of **** and you got screwed because of it.
Working on becoming Titletown:

Bulls - 6

Richardson is probably the best, but Waiters in that deal was crippling for three years. RoCo/Saric much better deal.

No need to trade Taj and Tyus - they're both expiring and likely won't be with the team next year. Dieng, on the other hand, is the odd man out that is likely to be traded by deadline.

Lol. Back away from the keyboard, and please no more embarrassing , “two years of Butler is the same as one year of Butler” comparisons. That’s not how the transitive property works.

RoCo and Saric are superb. Saric and Markkanen play the same position. Give me Saric. RoCo an all NBA defender vs LaVine a gifted offensive player who plays matador D. Give me RoCo.

Laughed out of town by Philly fans? That’s funny considering that the overwhelming sentiment on the Sixers board is that we love the deal.
