Regardless of whether or not the Sixers have Butler.

Nope. If we play to our potential, we're out in the second round. If we don't, we're out in the first. We and, apparently, Danny have way overrated our talent. Kyrie, a declining Horford, an injured Hayward and a bunch of mediocre young guys isn't going to get it done.

Doesn't this dude only post here when we're losing?

Seems dubious dude. To be honest I really doubt you're a Celtics fan.

Not impressed. Stop acting like it's a huge deal.

Upgrade ? Possible.
Does it change anything for the East ? No. We are still better if our guys stop playing like G-League players.

Butler is great but the attitude issues combined with his age and mediocre shooting ability are going to mess with Philly. Too many meth cooks in the kitchen.

Toronto and Leonard the bigger obstacles IMHO

So your logic is: take the last 10 games and forget all the rest? We have the same squad that beat both Milwaukee and Philly last play-offs. We upgraded it with Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward.

The Butler trade makes a big difference. We can talk about the fit but he is an absolute stud. A big4 with Simmons, Embiid, Butler and Reddick is pretty impressive. If they make another 1 or 2 moves to improve the roster around them they're strong contenders in the East, even if we improve and reach our full potential.

Anyway, as things were you would like to face Philly in the 2nd round instead of the Bucks, but now it's absolutely decisive to have at least the 2nd seed. Playing with no homecourt advantage against Sixers/Bucks and then the Raptors could be a bit too much. Gotta have homecourt at least in the 2nd round.

Do you remember what Covington looked like against Boston in the playoffs? Dude was a walking bag of crap all series long. Saric had his moments but was eaten up by Al. To replace THAT garbage production with a guy like Butler is a gigantic upgrade.

This is a pretty big deal IMO. If the pieces fit and it works out or not is a topic for another day, but the move was just what Philly needed. Terrific trade.

I agree with this— Ive already resided myself to the fact that were trading Brown and Tatum for AD this summer, so long as he gives us a commitment.

Serious mental gymnastics to make it seem like Butler won’t dramatically improve the Sixers in this thread. As if there weren’t just “trade Hayward or Brown for Butler” takes in the GT last night

That is the problem with this theory. They upgraded , Celtics upgraded yes, but it means nothing when rythym is off, not saying we wont get it together, but rythym is the most important thing.

Raptors were not looked at as being that dangerous, but one player in Leonard and both Serge and Lowry look way more balanced and the chemistry is amazing.

Celtics look flat.

Although imo , this Celtics team is a bunch of trade chips right now for Ainge

so don't fall in love with these guys yet, some of them might be going out soon for a big man.

He massively does. The only plus for Celtics fans is that in 3 years, where he still has 3 years and 125M left o his contract, Philly is going to be hurting.

Hopefully they stop playing like garbage then, because I certainly wouldn't trade a top ~5 player for the Brown and Tatum we've seen so far this year.

Or Gordon. Lets not kid ourselves, if he doesn't produce more as the season goes on I don't think DA will be as loyal to Brad's boy as people think either.

Anyway I need an NBA break tonight. Going out.

Tomorrow night we regroup and stuff vs. Portland, lets get it.

And now they have Redick and probably Muscala in the starting five....they are terrible defenders.

Matchups are still in our favor.

Embiid was bad against Baynes and Al.
Simmons was terrible.
Butler could be a problem, but Smart and Brown can defend and give him troubles.
Fultz...what a joke.
Muscala is a soft below average PF.
Redick is one of the worst defender in the league.

Who will stop Kyrie ? Who is going to open space in their current roster ?

Im confident Tatum will improve. Im not confident Jaylen will to the point that NO would be unreasonable to ask for both.

Danny needs to do it even without a commitment
