I want nothing to with Fultz. He isn't a PG and he can't shoot. I would probably give them Justin Holiday for him, but that's about it.

The Kings are thin at SF and have three point guards (Fox, Mason and Yogi). I don't know why they would do that trade.
wasn't aware of that. thanks.
how about cam payne for mason then?

I'd do that trade, but don't know if the Kings would. I'm all for trading Payne at this point. He's had plenty of time to prove himself on the The Bulls. I think its time to move on.

I wouldn't even do that. The new rookie deals, particularly for the guys at the top of the draft, are not small deals. Fultz is set to earn almost $10 mil next year (which takes out of the max free agent market) and over $12 mil the year after that. You can't pay that much to a guy that is trying to figure it out. I view it as a huge negative contract.

In my desire to rid us of Cam Payne, and bring in a legit sf, here are some quick musings.
Jalen brunson for Cameron payne
Holiday for Nwaba and a 2nd round pick.
felicio for jordan bell
payne to clippers for milos teodosic.
cam payne to grizzlies for Jevon Carter
justin holiday to Minnie for Bates Diop. might not work money wise, but gives us more size; gives them a
veteran sf who shoots better.
Justin Holiday to Philly for Shake Milton and a 2nd round pick.
they improve their shooting, we get younger and get an extra pick.
How about Cam Payne to Portland for Wade Baldwin. both players were drafted at about the same spot.
Both could use a change of scenery. We were high on Baldwin, I think.
how about Justin Holiday to the Wizards for Troy Brown. we get younger, they get a vet.
money should work out okay.

Re: Trade Thread: Armchair GMs welcomed
As has already been brought up some, after the recent trade, I could see the 76er's valuing Holiday and Portis (I feel like Portis can sort of fill in for Saric and Holiday can sort of be a SG version of Covington. Obviously. they both have a lot of differences with Saric and Covington, but I think they could fit well with the 76er's current group).
I like Portis, but at this stage of the rebuild, I don't love the idea of committing decent money to a player that is going to be a back up for us (unless unforeseen things develop).
I'd probably trade these 2 for the 76er's first rounder and filler.
Garpax have been on fire drafting lately so a second first rounder would be welcome.
This trade would also likely help or own pick similar to trading Niko last year.
We wouldn't risk losing Portis for nothing.
I know a lot of posters want to hold on to Portis, but I would rather get some value and keep or payroll lean and flexible so we are in a position to strike when opportunities arise and have more opportunities in free agency.

What about something like Portis for Furkan Korkmaz and Jonah Bolden? The Sixers didn't renew Korkmaz's option so he's not in their long term plans. I have no idea what they think of Bolden. Both players would give The Bulls prospects that they can develop.
The Sixers get a big to replace Saric.

Bobby & Holiday to Philly for a 1st sounds like a decent move. I like it alot more for Philly though.

Personally, I would value a first round pick more than either of those players, but there are so many variables with free agency and different teams cap space plans whether the the Sixers would value them enough to give up a first. So I really have no clue what is feasible. I just thought they looked like a good potential trade partner.

I agree, I think it could be a great move for them. I just don't see how we could expect to get much more in return for Portis and Holiday considering they are going to be free agents next off season. They would basically be trading for the rest of this year and their bird rights. Maybe we could get them to add someone like Korkmaz.
However, maybe a different type of trade could be set up that involves Markelle Fultz or Zhaire Smith, but I think it would be unlikely they would be ready to part with either at this point.

Rumor is Philly wants Korver, so Holiday may not have value to them. Any trade that brings back a pick or player with potential on a rookie deal for Bobby works for me. I like Bobby, but if some team sees him as their starter and is willing to pay starter money, we end up with an opportunity cost because we may need near max money for at least the SF position and possibly the PG position next year.

I like Bobby for Zaire Smith and Holiday for Fultz and we toss in Payne and a future first round pick, top 16 protected. Fultz would be a fun project to see if we can get him back to college form. Zaire Smith was supposed to be the best athlete in the draft. Giving up a future protected first would be a huge loss, but getting Smith and Fultz would be a nice gain. Fultz would be like Parker-- A risk to take a chance on, and hope for the best.

as thibs hates rookies, lets trade Holiday for Bates Diop. we get younger and gain more size. Thibs gets a vet, who can be another Bull on his Western Bulls team.

Why do you guys want to get rid of Bobby? Holiday I understand but Portis is still only 23.

I don't think it's about getting rid of Bobby, but about losing Bobby for nothing in his RFA next offseason. Which is the opposite of wanting to get rid of Bobby really - it means that Bobby is viewed as someone who might very well command starter money.
From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

What was the rumored amount for the extension he turned down?

Payne is making 3.3 mil, bench him or release him. I can't see any other team that is itching for a subpar backup PG, if they think he shows promise they can just sign him next year, likely for much less than his qualifying offer of 4.5
As far as holiday, for Troy Brown or shake milton? Not sure how you can spin that to be a good thing
Why all the hate on Holiday. he's expiring and a very good 4.5 million deal and he's better than everyone mentioned.

Portis is a RFA this summer, he should be resigned, not traded for garbage guys or late first rounders.

AFAIK no numbers have been leaked, nor have there been substantiated rumours. The only number that was discussed was that they were 2 millions apart on the yearly salary, but I don't remember seeing a number on either what the Bulls offered or what Portis wanted.

It's about whether even one other team is willing to pay him starter money (ie $15M). In isolation, it's ok, if he's the last piece of the puzzle, but we'll still need 1 allstar SF and quite possibly a starting PG and the opportunity cost is pretty high. Especially if you could get a Vonleh, Muscala, etc. type guy for $5M or less.
