2019 Draft Thread

Post#1 » by ComboGuardCity » Fri Nov 16, 2018 3:46 pm

We don’t really know where we’ll Be picking but thought it would be nice to have a thread to discuss prospects.

Zion looks nasty so far.

Mac Mclung has some hype trending.

Well we're anywhere from 1 to probably 18th. I'd take RJ Barrett first overall. Zion's body scared me. 280lbs and doing what he does - I just think his knees or lower back won't last. Especially as he'll still get naturally bigger as he matures as he's only 18yrs old.

If we lost Dre for the season we wouldn't another 10 games. Griff going down I think we could "survive" with Stanley and Leuer, though still miss the playoffs bigly - probably 7-10 range pick still because "Detroit doesn't tank" while all other out of the playoffs would be by the end of the season.

No pointguards in the lottery range sucks. Overall outside the Dukies this seems like a pretty lackluster draft. I wouldn't mind trading our FRP lightly lotto protected, but given we didn't have one last year our scouts probably would want to make a selection now.

Top 8 or so looks loaded up with guards and wings that would be a nice addition.

I would tank the whole season for a 10% chance at Zion

Lets try to be realistic without constant posts about how the team should tank for a top 3 pick because we all know that is not going to happen and no matter what happens, this team won't be a bottom five team. That doesn't mean the team could win a top 3 pick out of pure luck tho!

Zion looks like Larry Johnson to me. Just a massive frame with incredible explosiveness. Of course, Johnson's time was cut short due to injury, but he was sure fun to watch while it lasted.

Except so much bigger. And even more explosive. And possibly more skilled (given age and development).

But yeah, he could completely fall apart physically. For every massively built guy that holds up (Karl Malone, LeBron), there are dozens that fall apart. And this guy Zion is massive.

To this point it's been perhaps Andre's best ability, availability. He has been an ironman.

I'm glad for the thread. It's early for any sense of certainty, but I always learn so much. I have heard of Zion.

Yup. It's enabled him to play mediocre, lackadaisical basketball on a consistently healthy basis.

We have got to hit on something no matter we’re we pick this year. Another draft bust will not go over well. Imagine though if we could just get some stud prospect out of the middle of the draft, that would help ease the pain around these parts.

I want to read about prospects in our range though and not just Future Suns/Hawk Zion Williamson.

Ed Stefanski seems to make way better decisions so it can't get any worse
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Jury is out on that. SVG drafted Dinwiddie with his first ever pick.

Nah... he wouldn't have gotten rid of him if he had vision.

Must be nice to have a leader with vision: Jerry West (the Logo) -

I know Jerry West is a legend and all, but those gizz teams didn't have "vision" and the clips team is really suspect as well. The clips have little young talent and are just hoping a star wants to play in LA.
